A single individual gets the $1,200. A married couple will get $2,400 meaning $1,200 each and for each child they also get $500. Though there is a maximum of three children if I understand it correctly. Those who will get this are only people who are working, does not apply to people on Social Security or Disability or unemployment. It has been said the checks could be cut by the second week of April, to be sent probably as early as May. But remember, this needs to pass the House first and not all of them are in Washington right now. After it passes the House, it needs to be signed by the trump.

Corporations lose millions of revenue due to the virus making them close. If they continue to bleed money, they will inevitably start laying people off. Unemployment rate would skyrocket, and the economy would tank in a couple of years.

Pretty sure that was the idea: Give money to people who are struggling with lost hours/wages and give money to people who might not have lost money but who don't usually have a lot of extra cash in hand so they can pump that money back into the economy, raising demand for goods/services and creating jobs for people who just lost theirs.

It is not a bail out, these are loans and they come with strings attached, as in, they cannot lay off their employees nor use the money to boost the salaries of their executives nor bonuses. Neither can they use the money for buy backs while they have to play the loans and after paying it all for one full year. These were sticking points the Dems wanted to include so what happened during the bail out in 2008 does not happen again.
