If the economy was really so strong business could weather a couple months of downtime. The truth is it was being propped up by the fed. With something like 40% of Americans making less
Than $40,000 there is no room for disruption. Corporate salaries in the $10s of millions are a disgrace when they don’t pay workers a living wage. Any business getting corporate welfare needs to freeze salaries at $499k or lower until all money is paid back with interest.

The US fed is about to learn the same lesson that Ontario learned here in Canada: You can,t protect the economy from this, you can only protect the people. If you put the economy first, it'll crash anyways but there'll be less people to rebuild it when this is over.

If the United States would have released legislation in the first few weeks of this crisis that ensured that people would still be paid, we wouldn't be dealing with such crazy unemployment. Most of Europe released legislation that covered 60-90% of employee wages, and those countries are not experiencing massive unemployment right now. There is a cost to not having a strong federal response to this problem.

How strong was an Economy where 50% of people don't have $500 Dollars to pay an unexpected bill and the majority live paycheck to paycheck ?, with almost all new wealth going to the top 10%.
An economy where 500,000 go bankrupt each year because of medical debt and 60, 000 people die for lack of medical insuranc and where common medications are 10x more expensive than other countries, and all this despite paying at least twice as much for healthcare as any other developed country.
Even before the pandemic the top 1% had gained 21 Trillion ( 21,000,0000,000,000 ) Dollars in wealth since 1989 & the bottom half of the U.S population had lost 900 Billion (900, 000, 000,000 ) Dollars.
A healthy economy & Society depends on people having enough money to live a decent life and spending that money in the real economy, not the obsession with stock prices.

    Unfortunately we are geographically handicapped.
    Conservatives follow republican isms
Liberals closer to the democratic philosophy.
Canadians in need get 2 grand a month for the next four months to start, whole of government approach
allows for faster delivery. Americans worshipping corporations at expense of citizens, some will be waiting 5 months for their twelve hundred bucks.
Having universal health care allows for better management of supply & service distribution.
Less spent per capita (not land mass) . We get what we need not what we can afford,as the bill is taken care of. Ted Kennedy was impressed.

Seeing as how most people's health insurance is tied to the employment. Unemployment not the only thing going up. So is the number of people without Healthcare. But don't worry. Status quo Joe is going to keep everything just the way things are. Every other industrialized Nation provide health care for it's citizens and there gov spends much less then America spends on Healthcare, and at a higher quality. How can we afford it? How can we not?

No hyperinflation or depression, here's why,
Not even with this record stimulus of 2.2 trillion we wont. Right now we have about 3-5 inflation rate, with this record stimulus that should increase it to 6-8 inflation rate. To go into a depression you have to first have hyperinflation then depression begins. So we would need an inflation rate of over 50 for hyperinflation to begin let alone a depression. (This for the US only, hyperinflation is the only way we ca go into a depression, again because we hold the reverse currency obviously besides WW3)
Next, the US holds the reserve currency of the world which means that gives the fed the power to create and unlimited amount of money. Yes our national debt is extremely high, you ask yourself how can we still continue and not collapse, again because we hold the reserve currency. Every other country in the world would need to collapse before the US could. Don't get me wrong, I was a believer, I did the research, gold and silver fanatic, listened to Peter Schiff etc. But when you come back down to reality you see that the reserve currency gives the holder that power, it's as simple as that. It would take trillions upon trillions more to even increase inflation rate for the reserve currency to have a significant inflation rate, simple as 123. Don't get wrong either, it does do wealth distribution, OMG millionaires and billionaires get even wealthier in times like these on so many levels and reasons.
I was just reading this article explaining how the 2008 bailout continued behind the scenes and turned into a multi trillion dollar bailout. Man, if a billion dollar bailout behind the scenes turned out to be a multi trillion dollar bailout then I dont ever want to know what this trillion dollar bailout will turn out to be behind the scenes.
Nonetheless, Zach Carter of Huffington Post wrote that it "is not an economic rescue package, but a sentence of unprecedented economic inequality and corporate control over our politics that will resonate for a generation". He views the restraints as "purely cosmetic" and "toothless". More significantly, he notes that "$425 billion ... can be leveraged 10 times over by the Federal Reserve, resulting in a multi-trillion-dollar program". That gooses it up to the sort of fun numbers that were taking place behind the curtain after 2008. Meanwhile, the New York Times did a story, In Fine Print of Stimulus Package, Special Deals for Certain Industries. It demonstrated that the unprecedented rescue package was still, at least in part, business as usual.
In spite of the negatives and the risks, the package represents a real political and philosophical change. We are at last moving on from Reagan's "The most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help'," to "We need the government to help. Nobody else can help. Here we are." That new and improved attitude is not limited to America. It is showing up in the UK and in Germany, as well.
