To be clear: It was the "acting" secretary of the Navy who did nothing when the Capt. informed him and other higher ups about the disease being on the ship. The Capt. DID the right thing and history and his sailors and their families WILL always remember that.

The summary dismissal of the Captain, to me, is the most honorable end to his career he could have asked for. Fighting for the life of your crew knowing you’ll likely be punished by the dictator and his henchmen, that takes courage and moral integrity to sacrifice your career for the lives of your crew.
It is an honor to be fired in Trump’s America. It means you did something moral and right. It will be remembered as such once this era passes, in the meantime, Trump and his minions can go after him all they want, it’s not going to change history. History will not be kind to Trump, while it will salute and glorify, even if posthumously, all those heros who were wronged trying to do the right thing.

The way his crew responded to him being removed says a lot about his leadership. If we had to go to war, I would want a captain to have a crew that believed in him as much as this crew believes in their captain. Our government just messed up in a major way. And I won't be too surprised if half of that crew refuses to re-enlist. I'm a veteran and this current government embarrasses me to no end.

So he gave his speech over the ship’s intercom and not out on the deck in front of everyone. This illustrates his cowardice that he can fly around the world to give his angry speech, but he’s unworthy to face them while giving it. If the sailors threw his carcass overboard, there wouldn’t be one single witness step forward out of 5000.
Captain Crozier did the right thing to protect his crew. The acting secretary should be fired and sued for defamation.

Peter T , I think when the Navy secretary goes all the way there, and says it like that, it's meant so every sailor in the navy knows, (not just on that ship, but every ship and boat,) that the captains of these ships, have to have the balls to put sailors life's on the line daily, that's their job. If it gets rough the chain of command takes the heat, you don't violate the uniform code of military justice. The break out of this flu was too much for this captain, no one died and no one was even on a respirator. He knew what he was doing, and knew he would be relieved of duty. Believe it or not, The secretary of the navy was quenching the closest thing you'll ever see to a mutiny.

Fighting for the life of your crew knowing you’ll likely be punished by the dictator and his henchmen, that takes courage and moral integrity to sacrifice your career for the lives of your crew.
It is an honor to be fired in Trump’s America. It means you did something moral and right. It will be remembered as such once this era passes, in the meantime, Trump and his minions can go after him all they want, it’s not going to change history. History will not be kind to Trump, while it will salute and glorify, even if posthumously, all those heros who were wronged trying to do the right thing.

If it wasn't this guy it'd be another, or a whole list of admirals, stepping up to take command of this vessel, the captain of that ship is to put sailors life on the line every min. This guy went public that a US warship was incapable of performing its mission......because, a bad flu was making everyone sick, and maybe, someone might be on a respirator, or maybe even die. When the Secretary of the navy goes to that length, he mean everyone in the navy to hear it. Sailors are there to put their life on the line. The captains are there to facilitate that. There can be no insubordination. (This is as close to quashing a mutiny as you'll ever see, on an aircraft carrier no less) watch the heads roll off that ship, I think that captain is taking a lot of junior officers down with him. That's just how the Navy works.

My husband served 1st gulf war and War in Iraq. We know good Captains and we know bad ones, During War and Peace. This Captain Crozier hands down the best. He might as well took a bullet for that crew in essence he did. You'll never know what it's like for someone to do that for you . Or you'll never be that kind of a person . Dont feel bad few people have the rare quality if putting their life on the line for someone else. Very few. 4,500 men and women agree. A highly respected and honorable man indeed.
