Actually I live in Harris County (Houston). We are required to stay home and work from home. Schools are closed until May 4th or may be extended. Non essential business have been ordered to close. Restaurants are takeout or drive up. The Governor has put this in place until April 30 maybe extended. Should all states and counties do this absolutely. Please don’t rank Texas with Florida or Georgia, or even Missouri which doesn’t even have a stay home and stay safe in place.

Credit should also go to the San Francisco Bay Area. All the surrounding counties in the Bay acted very quickly (more quickly than the governor). This is why we're doing so much better than LA right now.

@@jeanneeber , Like I already said, our SF and SF adjacent counties shut down way before Governor Newsom intervened. LA is proof of that. Consider them our control group. LA didn't do that well initially. And the SF area is much denser and less car-friendly than the LA area. And don't be so quick to absolve New York of any responsibility for their mess, they kept their public school system open for way too long in New York City.

Sadly USA has lost the Corona war.
The only fight that remains is making sure number of deaths stay under 300.000 deaths and do not rise to 3.300.000 (+-1%) or even 16.000.000(+-5%).
If people all get sick at once and hospitals overflow expect up to even 5% death rate, if controlled it could be as low as 0.1%. Be smart stay at home if you can. Wait for controlled corona testing to quarantine the infected and only after all infected are identified and quarantined life can go back to normal.
What is the value of human life? 1 million ? 5 million? 1 billion?

Newsom and Inslee had the first outbreaks in their states, and they have acted immediately. Consequently, they have flattened the curves in their states. California is the most populace state in the country, LA is as populated as NYC. If Newsom had not shown such foresight, the death toll in California would be the largest, instead Washington or California have fewer deaths than New York, New Jersey, Michigan or Louisiana.
Our Governor's kind of a Nancy-Boy but a least he's competent. So far so good.

We closed our flight border to China 2 days after the US. We have 5,200 cases country wide (ie: 79,500 in the US on the same per capita basis). What possible reason can there be for the US to have +250,000 cases?!? What (person) one reason can there be for the US to not aligned with, or indeed bettering, our whole of government (Federal & State in a National Cabinet) results...??? That's true enough. You don't have to copy everything California does. You just need to copy the parts that make sense to you. After all, even a broken clock can be right twice a day. And in California (especially the Bay Area), I don't think anyone can deny that we've been bending the curve because our counties (and later our state) issued stay-at-home orders so early on.
