Another great broadcast, especially outing our beloved Mike Memoli. Steph got jokes, for real. The energy and the authenticity of concern about the stories was especially evident. One of the easiest to detect, yet most important traits in a broadcaster: Engagement in the subject matter, and the subject matter here is the trajectory of the country. And those workers on that bridge.
We're in peril not only because too many of us don't know the news; we are where we are because too many of us know the news and don't care enough about it to act. Hosting a cable news show is a leadership position.
Do you notice how, at the end of a segment and transition to a break, Ruhle previews the upcoming segment? That's another one of the things she does so well and uniquely. It ain't "we'll be right back." It's like a well written commercial for the next segment.
