It is time to stop this system where you have to compete with your own fellow states and the federal government for supplies.
The federal government should take at face value the estimated need per state and swiftly work on acquiring enough for each.

I would give anything to have Mr. Cuomo as our governor in Ohio. We have a hot republican mess here that no one wants. He really needs to be our President.

If you expect a national response to a pandemic from government, you first need a national health system lead by the government.
Meanwhile, in Australia the government run hospital Intensive care beds are being supplemented by the private hospitals with government funding. Increasing the number of free government funded intensive care beds available, I think, by about 1/3.

No state is prepared. Especially not NY state. NY refused to purchase 16k ventillators in 2015 in favor of death panels and lotteries.

Like the corona virus pandemic, though he enjoyed standing before the rolling
tape so the whole world will think he knows what he is doing, he is not even level headed enough to learn, all he is
looking for is somebody to tell him he doing a great job. He ought to know that you can t force people to praise
you for doing your job, if you really did a great job without any prejudice or bias, people will naturally complement you for your efforts, but if your efforts are counter productive becaise of your bad behaviour people will speak out. For instance the pandemic cases is on the rise, more people are dying of the covit 19, there is not enough testing kits, not enough ventilators to manage the crisis. and you as the president lacks the right communication skills and attitude towards the state governors who are working tirelessly in their states then it means you are not doing something right. Its not enough to start a blame game because of your incompetece and frustation
what we need is the right leadership
with the right attitude to make things much easier and not complicated.

With the failure to organize at the national level, the State Governors have to get together and, behind the scenes, develop their own emergency medical equipment/supplies procurement and distribution process and plan. In business, price fixing is illegal like cartels, but these are desperate times. First a task force coordinator, like Ron Klain, has to be assigned to get the development process going. It seems Washington is not being helpful.

If all 50 states are affected and competing against each other, becos rule number 1 says go do it yourselves, the Fed shoud intervene bcos competition is not the solution. Rule 2 applies! Let the Fed procure, distribute and allocate fairly. This is not rocket science!

Yes but, again, who can trust the federal government? Example: California Congresswoman Katie Porter's questioning of the CDC chief about CV testing. Getting him to commit to something so fundamentally important to everyone's well-being as testing was like pulling teeth from a chicken. I couldn't believe how pathetic his excuses were. If the states can't depend on the feds to take appropriate action of course they will have to do it themselves. People are dying. Respectfully, what difference does it make who is doing the buying or other arrangements so long as these supplies are provided somehow? The rates of infection are basically consistent. The same amount of PPE will be needed no matter who buys it.
There was a recent report that although 3M was doubling down on their production of face masks, their distributors in Canada were gouging terribly on the prices. They intentionally made it impossible to buy them, even when offered this exhorbitant amount of money to fulfill their demands. That's why there is a disconnect between the manufacturers and the hospitals who need them. Where is the accountability? They ought to be horsewhipped. What manner of politics? Seems like the only thing the feds could do, if they wanted - key words - would be to find a way to hold these "purveyors'" feet to the fire for price gouging. But that's not happening. I wonder why?

IF Trump had said he was going to abdicate his role as the primary contact point for support in this way he should have told the govenors back in Feb so the govenors could step up and take do what was needed to protect the people. He's just looking for a way to avoid responsibility for his bad decisions.

And Trump is now saying the state's are on their own. It's their own fault if there are shortages.

Order the USNS Comfort to set sail from New York City and head to New Orleans, stop ALL federal funding and aid to New York NOW!!! Redirect ALL medical supplies scheduled to go to New York and transfer them to Louisiana, the people THERE may APPRECIATE this help because obviously NY does NOT, Let NY fend for themselves and take care of themselves without the help of the federal government!

The federal government is a back up to the states. The states are the primary in dealing with those issues. The federal government does not keep emergency supplies on hand for the entirety of the United States. It would have backups to cover multiple states emergencies, but it doesn't keep a supply on hand to cover everyone, that is ludicrous. It's like kids going to a baseball game and expected to bring money for hotdogs. The chaperone may have enough to cover fora few kids whose parents forgot or didn't think to give them money but they didn't bring enough cash for 50 hotdogs and drinks.
If you expect the federal govt. to have enough on hand to cover ever person in every state at a moments notice then do away with state governments, because that is what is in their job description.

I guess Cuomo needs to be educated on his role of a Governor. A Governor's responsibility is to ensure that their state is adequately prepared for any kind of disasters or emergencies of any kind and are handled on a local level and can declare a state of emergency. No wonder New York is a mess.
