People had to be saved first before the economy. That way economy can recover over time. Dead people cannot be recovered.
I was a Republican in 2008. I know how depressed my community was when all those promises by Republican party fell apart and we lost. I'm not a Democrat. We can change every 4 years. We need to clean house before we become a sh*t hole country in America. The two parties are one and it's like we have swallowed another hungry mouth. For the first two years the Democratic Party was not in power and would have never won the US House back if it wasn't for Trump drawing so many to the polls in 2018. The voters came to vote against Trump but Trump is what brought out the record midterm numbers. If you think that was something, just you wait until this November. Also, if you think those investigations were a sham, you'll be in for a big surprise when all of Trump's corruption is uncovered when congress reconvenes in January, 2021.

The longer it lasts, the worst it gets, the easier it will be for him to declare Marshall Law and remain in power by suspending all individual and constitutional rights, including electoral processes. I really like Americans. I've been there a few times and they were so nice. This is really hard to watch. American Marines defended Australia during WW2. We have stood side by side since then. Empires fall and it only takes one mistake. The Romans stretched too far. The Mongols fractured without strong leadership. The Soviet Union had a Meltdown at Chernobyl and lost all their military supplies and money. Now I fear the Americans with rampant corruption from it leaders, will follow. A pandemic happens, so they fund the financial sector with 2 trillion dollars. It has three safety levels for it's people to make sure it goes into the right hands. The first thing their president does is try to remove those levels. Then takes no action to protect the people who have no supplies and no help in whats coming. I'm afraid it's almost inevitable. Really really sad. Makes me feel sick to watch.
It is clear that the American era is receding. I always thought the flame would finally flicker and go out with oil. It really is sad. This pandemic could topple the US. They are not looking up to it. You may be right but I hope we are wrong.

Perhaps it's just me, but why is no one mentioning that all of those newly furloughed or laid off employees may no longer have health insurance. Some of which will now receive an extremely large hospital bill if they become ill with this and survive... They survive only to get with a 35k plus bill. It's already happened to many and nobody is addressing it. The hospital systems are about to go under and the American public is not going to be able to sustain after all the bills come due and hospital bills stack on top of that. This is an economic snowball that turns into a fireball when it rolls down the mountain.
If the individual cannot fulfill his responsibilities, invoke the tweeny 5th immediately for the sake of American people.
