In this episode of Hermitcraft season 10, Mumbo builds up the bottom section of his giant Hermitcraft mega base. This Mumbo Minecraft base is going to have a Hermitcraft shopping district, room for a Minecraft database, and will be expanded upwards. I also work on some concept art for my base, and prank Iskall85.

I like how the simple act of Mumbo NOT fidgeting around like he usually does is enough to make Iskall feel unsettled. Its like he subconsciously knows something is wrong but he can't pinpoint what. XD

iskall interaction was basically the dictionary definition of "He's just standing there, MENACINGLY"
In the wise words of Bdubs. The darker bit being in the mid shows less light is hitting in that location. Which makes you perceive the "concave" feature your trying to achieve better!
Exactly what I was popping down here to say! Putting the darker blocks in the middle will make it look more shadowed - thus, deeper inset - without having to take the space to make it actually that deep!
AND THAT'S WHY I DID THE ANDESITE WHICH IS APPARENTLY BRIGHTER AFTER THE TUFF.
Totally was a streak of light before the shadow...yep.

Agreed! I used to be a very self loathing person and I know how self depricating comments can weigh on your mental health, so I'm always internally cheering when I hear him actually saying nice things about himself and his builds.
I was getting all the feel good chemicals in my brain when he was sounding so excited and proud :')
It's a really nice thing to see!
Want thing I learned is Self Pracising your work is really Nice and beneficial, It Helps you feel worth and nice, My advice to others learn to praise yourself since we don't always have others to do so.

Hi, professional children's book illustrator here!
When shading a concave form, the center where the shape curves inward will be the darkest color as light and bounced light have the most difficulty reaching those spaces. Meaning the top and bottom will be most similar in tone. Going light to dark to light was *correct.*
Also, if you want to push highlights & shadows a little more, I recommend adding acacia logs & basalt to the shadows and light gray concrete powder to areas of highlight.
I'm very excited for this base project! Your concept art made it look very cozy.

1:13 As an artist, I am glad that you decided to take this approach! I do a concept sketch almost every time when I am about to build something (that is large or that I need to understand from a reference first instead of just from my brain) because I don't like just making it in creative and copying it over - feels like double the work at that point.
Honestly I know I’m probably alone when I say this but it’s so refreshing that this season of hermit craft has made some hermits actually take their time playing such as grian fishing for the first episodes it’s much more enjoyable to see people play minecraft for fun and not in a rush to get overpowered
I don't think so! I think a lot of people including me really like this fun slower paced less rushed vibe that seems to be going on. I also like how how it's seems like everyone is sharing build inspiration this season as well. The collaboration is on point!
I think it's just the contrast between the fast pace of season 8 that had a fraction of the time given to a normal season
everyone using horses and donkeys has made it feel so much more like a little community than just flying around

You know, It's kinda interesting how almost al of the magic mountain hermits are building cities. Joel, Grian, Bdubs and Impulse, Scar has a kinda city on the train, and now Mumbo too. (Idk what gem is doing)
Gem is recreating one of her favorite games or at least she is taking inspiration from it. The game is called dredge I think

@@nchls1343 Not at all. It sounds far closer to the word flounder than ponder. The word ploundered roughly equates to having rolled through something. Sounds close enough to real words to pass as something that could be said. I can picture Mumbo casually telling Cubfan that he ploundered and Cub either being too polite to say anything or inquiring as to what the word meant. Just think it would be funny!

As an artist, that part where you talk about concept art just for a blocky game is great! This is why Minecraft is so loved, creativity is what makes it great, and using art, another form of creativity, shows that Minecraft players are wonderful! Keep it up Mumbo

I genuinely really love watching Mumbo build and hearing his thoughts on it, it's become one of my favourite parts of Hermitcraft, even much more so than the builders - what Mumbo does feels achievable, but then he explains his thoughts and they aren't thoughts I would have! It's really cool.

all this new editing is elevating mumbo's already amazing videos to a whole new level of quality, it's incredible

I love this new season of mumbo! It makes you feel so emmersed and connected to what is happing. From the new screens between clips to using procreate to provide a visual image even listing the episodes # at the beginning of each is so nice as if you are traveling along (you get to see the whole thought process) makes me want to be here more THANKS!!!

Don't forger about moss, it can be a great alternative to grass and covers the side of the block without needing a texture pack. Vines and glowberry vines can add that finishing touch to the bushes too
was just about to say this. I also recommend mossy cobblestone, though it is kinda hard to come by. All of these things really help give the build that overgrown feel

hey mumbo!! im not very good with redstone but recently i made a double piston extender without a tutorial or help!! it taught me that an extended puston is an immovable block and you have to retract the redstone blocks before activating the bottom pistons. using the logic from this, i might be able to make a triple piston extender! Thank you mumbo for making tutorials for the redstone incapible.

I love how expressive mumbo's voices while he's standing perfectly still. It's almost like I expect the camera to be moving around to express the emotion as well... It's so weird
mumbo really is. an old soul. he called the packed mud blocks new when everyone else was talking about the new tuff blocks in their videos
I see a lot of builders place the blocks ahead of time off to the side, so that they can clearly visualize the gradient. This would help determine what order blocks should be in terms of hue and color.
I just love that even though Mumbo didn’t allow himself to move around that he still paced by pushing tab when the conversation kept going on.

I enjoy when you and the other hermits share the thoughts behind creative processes. The explanation around using pro create (rofl what a name) to sketch out your base plans was refreshing.

I’ve been loving how builders like grian, gem, and Joel are showing their process more because it helps me get an idea of how they create awesome stuff. The fact that you and impulse are doing it now too is even better!!! You guys both have more analytical ways of building like xisuma does which is always a fun perspective to see.
Bdubs as well! These creative proces showing and visual storytelling way- of editing have been so good to see this season.
Watch B-dubs. He's the goat. If you want innovative, creative, and just the best work in the game then watch him make art in this game. People like Grian and Gem even take a lot of inspiration from him

Gotta hand it to Mumbo for challenging himself. Is he an artist? Possibly not, paints concept art anyway. Is he a terraformer? Not yet, maybe, but he terraforms an entire cliffside anyway.
Loved the bit with Iskall ... subconsciously he just knew there was something off, but just couldn't pin it down. Lol

Mumbo, I've noticed that you're using string to stop the glow berry vines from growing over the door to your base, the thing is you don't need to do that since Mojang gave us the ability to shear vines a couple years ago to stop them from growing.

Seeing the mountain from afar really reveals just how small it actually is. I'm so excited for the hermits' builds to fully reach the top (And for Joel to reach the bottom) because the bases will really start linking together and looking amazing.

If you do want to admire some of the nice terraforming blocks other hermits are using, Bdubs recently added some gradients to the rocks his base sits on top of and they are *stunning*
Also, I was yelling at you about the tuff being darker, but I am also yelling at you because out of all of the blocks, andesite is the lightest, and it’s right in the middle of your gradient

The base is coming together so nice!! If you feel like the wall needs more variation, some stairs and slabs go a LONG way in texturing up a flat space
I think you should add some moss patches, think small version of what grian had on his floating stones last season! That could break up the printing effect even more :)
