This song feels like it’s got elements of all their previous albums. It’s got the progressive elements of The Black Parade, the dark lyrics and “emo” vocals of Three Cheers, the heavy riffs and screaming of I Brought You My Bullets, and the synthesizers/electronics of Danger Days.

I missed your era, I’m 60 70's and 80's was my music. 90's-2005, I was all over the world in the USAF. Found MCR in 2009 when my wife died. I was in hell. This music was all i had. Saw you in Raleigh August 2022, was up close on the floor. Best concert in all of my 60 years.

A year ago when this was released, I was going through heroin withdrawal, determined to get clean. I caved and used. And used for months more. Every time I did, “GET UP COWARD” would play in my head. I just lowered my methadone dose for the first time… on the anniversary of this song’s release. I couldn’t have achieved sobriety without it.

I know MCR will never see this, but if there was one thing I could let them know, I’d want them to know: my best friend Erika took her life 4 years ago and she and I were some of the most obnoxious MCR fans on the planet. It broke our hearts when we heard that the band broke up. Before COVID, I got tickets to honor her and get that experience that she and I never got. She would be losing her mind over all of this right now. It’s so bittersweet, but I’m glad to see them back again.

The way you can pick out parts that are reminiscent of each previous album while also hearing the new things they learned as individuals that they've brought to this new MCR song is blowing my mind, and the song being released with so little fanfare while simultaneously being musically impressive and emotionally impactful? I grew up with this band, and getting to see this song change everything for a whole new generations of fans is making me teary eyed. Expectations were always high for anything MCR might release at this point, but you can see how much heart, blood, sweat, and tears went into this. So thankful

@@azariathenerd6408 Only thing bad is the mixing, Gerards voice should be more audible, and should be playing from left and right, the drums are too loud and too apparent compared to Gerards voice imo. Although I probably shouldn’t be saying anything since I’m really high rn lol.
@@mivvy3182 I actually agree with you on this. Especially on the vocals. It's quite unprofessional actually and wierd that the band let this out like this. Still sounds pretty great, but I think its quite clear that Gerard's voice is too low in volume. Maybe it's intentional, who knows..

Never gonna stop loving mcr, I’ll never be more grateful to a group of people. They got me through the past 2 years of my life and continue to help day by day when it feels like I have nothing left. I’ll never forget crying and feeling like there was no way out and then putting on MCR or watching one of their old interviews and remembering how to smile, Gerard’s own struggle with suicide drugs and mental health is so similar to mine and seeing how far he’s come and how he can make this amazing musical comeback gives me hope too. I want to get all these beautiful lyrics tattooed on my soul. When I finally saw MCR after years of believing I wouldn’t, it was the happiest night of my life. Hearing this live filled a hole in my heart that I hadn’t even known existed. It was such a beautiful show and I felt so empty yet so whole when it was over. Remembering my show and how happy I felt gave me strength these past hard 6 months since I’ve seen them. I’ll never be able to fully express how grateful I am to MCR, how they’ve saved my life, and even though at the end of the day they are just 4 ordinary guys from New Jersey they don’t understand the impact they’ve had on so many lost kids who are just looking for something to call home, something to comfort them when life gets hard. Even though I’ve now outgrown mcr a bit they’ll always have such a special place in my life. It’s been almost a year since this life changing song was released but not a day goes by where I don’t think of it. Here’s hoping they’ll make a new album soon.

i was wrongfully worried that this song might sound too digital, clean, mainstream and chart friendly… but this is MCR!! this is the same mcr we met 20 years ago. it’s so perfectly them. you can tell that it was important to the guys to make this a genuine MCR song, and wow! they succeeded. 9/11 references, catholicism, screaming, the awesome breakdowns and heavy instrumentals… i love it. thank you, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!!!

My dad got me into MCR when I was younger. He was a fairly young dad and was still going through his emo phase lol- And tbh I don't think he ever grew out of it but the plus side about that is that I had an emo to look up to for fashion and music taste lol.
In all seriousness though. I really just love their music. It's got such a unique feel to it, and for me each of their songs are so nostalgic because I grew up listening to them with my dad.

Got absolutely no where else to write this but I vividly remember how on October 31st 2019 they announced their comeback and how much I had to resist the urge to scream at the top of my lungs. I'm 49 and I'm so happy I introduced my kids to them as well. No matter your age, their art and talent affects us who get it. Finding them when they first appeared and even now resulted in lots of teasing which, of course never bothered me. Because why would anyone feel badly about loving such incredible music and art!??! Always have and ways will. MCR will always be my favorite band.
