I just wanna say thank you to Mykayla for even filming this journey. I canโt imagine how stressful life must be for her right now but sheโs still taking the time to show us some behind the scenes. I feel absolutely blessed and privileged to watch in (almost) real time the goings on of her and team USA. Canโt wait to watch all of them these next 2 weeks, the amount of pride I have for these girls just makes me well up ๐ฅบ

Same, At first i was wondering why she brings toilet paper, then I remembered that she is an athlete and its tape xD Im a dummy.
Tape and wraps are always brought by the gymnasts but I think usually chalk is provided by Team USA. This year bc of covid, each gymnast has to bring their own brushes, bottles, and chalk for their grips.

If you've seen the last episode of Golden, you'll see Tom going up to Morgan and others who did not made the national team and consoling them. Such a contrast to ignoring and throwing gymnasts aside that we're used to under Marta when one fails to perform to expectations.
I feel like Tom truly cares about them. You can see him giving advice and checking in ok them. I feel like since Martha left there's been a lot less injuries and the athletes seem happier and healthier. So outside of what I think about how he handles some things I truly respect him for all that.

The best of the best in the world all locked in aiming for one goal and now we have youtube and social media and we get to witness up close and personal their mindset and work habits.

I am a registered dietitian (nutritionist) for gymnasts and lovveeee that you brought snacks and are enjoying all the food!! Yes so common for your stomach to be upset with traveling and with stress, sorry you had to deal with that. Wishing you and team USA the best of luck!!! Rooting for you all!!

Thank you so much for sharing this!!! You have probably heard this but a warm wash rag pressed on the stress pimple for 15 min, then ice for 15 min might really help. I get the same crazy stress pimples when I travel and I never have treatment products with me. But I do tend to have access to a rag, warm water, and ice. Woohoo!

I hate how people and you say you're not a part of the team. You ARE a part of Team USA, even if your scores don't count. YOU made the team, YOU are good enough, YOU will succeed.
Hi! Why her points would not count ? I heard she's a specialist but no idea.
@@luyzo92 So there is the team of 4 on USA and 2 Individual Specialist spots. The 4 for Team USA compete on all 4 events and can compete in the all around, all their scores count towards the all around. The specialists (Jade and Mykayla) are also on team USA as an individual, which means, they can compete all events, do event finals and team all around finals, however, their scores don't contribute to team USA, hence why they're an "Individual specialist".

I was heartbroken when you realized you would not qualify for the vault during the prelims, but was still so proud of you for making the team. Now I am heartbroken your OG Grandma-in-crime has had to withdraw from the competition (fingers crossed she can compete in the beam) but over the moon you are getting your shot at an individual medal. From a life-long Red Rocks supporter I can't wait to see you take the world by storm in a short few hours! I think she means if someone on the main team gets injured or something. They could put her on the team to compete as the 4th member and replace her in the individual spot with Kayla or Emma. That is if they didnโt choose to pull Kayla or Emma up to compete with the team.

Don't think or feel negatively about your experience as an alternate. I coach junior curling. Selecting an alternate is difficult. We have to choose someone who is strong in everything, flexible in being able to fit in anywhere, and consistent to perform with little notice. These are very strong skills needed as a team athlete. #GOTEAMUSA

I think they've also realised that it builds up support for the gymnasts and sport in general which can only be a good thing for their income in the future. Social media is becoming more and more and source of income directly and indirectly

Some reason I always thought your tape, and medical supplies would be provided by the Olympics or our country.

They prob also supply tape but I bet each athlete has their own brand preference of tape and want to bring what they are used to using.
Also the part where they have to bring half of the leos themselves! I can understand if the USOC wanted to get the athletes a "sneak peek" before they go over, but don't make them pack am entire suitcase when they're trying to pack personal items!
@@katekramer7679 I'm sure they want athletes to try things on and make any adjustments, launder, etc. I couldn't wear newly-made clothes without washing due to my skin.

@Racheal Wood @Kate Kramer @Caitlin Tibbels & @Leo Wren You wonโt see anyone sharing ANYTHING due to Covid. That is why they have their own chalk, tape, snacks, etc, etc. We wonโt be seeing communal chalk stands because one rip of a hand in chalk opens up the door to an infection (& not just Covid). I didnโt see her pack an individual chalk bin, so maybe each country will share one, but we will see. Medical supplies, besides the approved OTC list, are 100% provided by the team doctors as are therapy products. The leoโs being matched with the proper undergarments is vital & they have to take their own practice leoโs & warm up clothes. Their main outfits are in the 3 bags delivered to their rooms (talk about a hefty luggage fee coming home ๐ณ, hopefully Jonas & her family can take a couple of bags with them, lol)! As Caitlin said re: tape, every athlete sees different types of trainers & Joe (her therapist from Mayo Clinic) has her doing very specific ankle tapings, plus tape is used on almost every apparatus! I order supplies & injections for a Rheumatology & PM/R office, & the cost of tape & pre-tape (from one of the largest medical suppliers in the US) is insane! A box of pre-tape (or Coban) is more expensive than a box of syringes w/needles attached. So Myk was packing ๐ธ๐ธ in supplies! Crazy town right? Regardless, I hope that Joe gave her the bags of tape & Iโm just so insanely excited & proud at how far sheโs come! Saying tons of prayers that she stays healthy, confident & gets to compete in multiple events! Two more weeks ๐๐๐ป!
