The National Guards should had been there and they should have shot anyone who would even attempt to break into the Capitol building. What needs to happen now is to round up those involve in the attack, give them due process of law, including fair trial, and sentence them to death for treason against the United States. People at protests, particularly ones on the far right, often carry around their guns as much as a statement on their right to bare arms as much as anything else so could be argued as being symbolic rather than a sign of intention to cause harm. The zip ties though clearly indicate the intention to take prisoners, most likely government members. I think that is why they are focused on the zip ties. They are far more clearly a sign of intent.
