I think something important to note is that he(and any politician) is beholden first and foremost to his states population. California is a liberal state of 55 million so it makes sense that republicans get more scrutiny in a huge liberal state. It totally goes both ways

I hate to say it, but Newsome and team have really botched this rollout big time. While he was basking in the wine country, he should have had his sleeves rolled up working on the plan to set up many more vaccination sites, selecting and communicating the timeline for different population segments, working with the teachers union to organize teacher vaccinations so our kids could get back to school, and collectively, speeding this process up. Nearly every other state is ahead of California on a proportional basis. It'd be a good joke, but it's not funny. Our kids are paying the ultimate price.

Military wife here had to move from SoCal to Texas in August and ever since the pandemic hit people seem to blame CA gov for actually putting policies to slow the spread. Here in TX there really is not any policies and so no one is being blamed. IDK why people are up in arms about the CA Gov.
