- NTSB officials say 21 crew members and two pilots were on board the cargo ship when it crashed into a bridge in Baltimore. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said the vessel had at least 56 containers, or 764 tons, of hazardous materials on board as well. Officials are also reviewing six hours of analysis recovered from a voice data recorder.

Correction: HAS at least 56 containers of Hazmat.
Nothing has been offloaded yet.
It's called a manifest.

The question is "were" they on the ship or "are" they still on the ship?
She stated that there is a sheen in the river-so I take it to mean that some of those containers did fall in the river
I think they are referring to the total number of containers that were on the ship at time of impact, but I agree the headline should be more specific
@@sheiladurst2103
Could that sheen be leaking fuel?
Hope the NTSB is transparent in good giving information...n check all the crews cargo thoroughly
its weird that the black box also went out where is the battery back for the essentials and for bridge radio /instruments /critical systems / its not like the boat is from the 50's
That bridge was just waiting for this to happen in such a busy port.
How come no one ever addressed the issue . How did you allow Hazardous Materials & Food containers in the first place ?
Other reports have said a lot of automobiles are shipped out of this port. There's a lot of hazardous material in automobiles. She said also lithium ion batteries which are in practically all electronics these days. There's hazardous material in your phone and computer, but they're the parts you don't come in direct contact with. Any food in the containers would have to be shelf stable like flour, sugar, grains, canned goods, alcohol. A lot of goods are imported/exported via cargo ships.
Hopefully the shipping company and crew get held responsible and sued for this disaster.
if your cars breaks suddenly gives away and your driver crashes into someone.. then you will be hold the driver responsible despite it being the car problem while the driver was just another hired guy ?wow nice logic
Nothing to do with the impact of the bridge...your time would be better invested in questioning the pilots why the tugs were dismissed 20 minutes before the ship approached the bridge.
Why would you think a tugs job is to guide a ship through the channel?
Standard procedure...the ship was in the designated transit channel....
Tugs going after 20m is standard.
It's an insult to the skipper to refer to the incident as an accident. The rest on your Laurel, Maryland girders of approval should realize that. What did he say? "There was a temporary helm rudder disassociation disorder. Engines all aft rudder to port side instead of starboard?" I think you would have to slam into that pretty hard-seems intentional. It's tough to believe it was an accident.
Something smells fishy and I don't mean the dead fish.
why is this fishy
Something smells rotten but not fish
This keeps getting more interesting
Not really.
I wonder who prepared the report for her
Why were there no tug boats for this ship? 😮
What pilot.?? Our pilot??? Where were the tugs ?????? Plus no barriers, !!!!!!!!keep the tugs close,,, who was in charge,????
Good points to make.
Why were you shipping your hazardous waste to sunny Sri Lanka?
Dam+,the thing was shaking seconds befor contact with ship, the bolbus bow first then ship second
oh darn it wasnt more severe
The bridge was designed for traveling over the bridge, but not under it

Sorry, but yet again, NTSB chair Jennifer Homendy appears totally out of her depth & is almost amateurish in her approach...Why is she scaremongering about 56 containers of hazardous materials...??? As a container ship, the load manifest will detail the exact location of every container, so locating the whereabouts of the 56 containers should be so straightforward & she could easily pass on precisely which containers are missing...& it should also be noted the bow container stacks are often used for empty containers...
..so what container were the children being trafficked on?
Sounds good to me
@kellywright5282 the ships captons quarters,
@@kellywright5282 The ones marked Trump.
Ah, you see, the bow is typically reserved for empty containers, AND hazmat materials.
Edit: the NTSB found breached hazmat containers on the Dali, but it appears that there is no hazardous materials spilled into the water, yet.
56 of a few thousand not bad i only see the first set boxes squished . who knows the math on 56 containers vs tons i got about 26000 lb per container
That ship is as long as nine blue whales end to end.
Unit of Measurement: Blue Whales

Most of the hazardous materials are for and from Battery powered automobiles that people were tricked into thinking are environmently friendly and gonna save our environment. Unspeakable amounts of hazardous waste will come from electric cars in our future. Thanks
Intentional .
Like a star course a ship...
🕯️🖤
New York has already filled out the paperwork to charge Trump for this!
He's got plenty of crimes he committed to worry about.
Incontestably the dumbest comment of the day.
you need to seek mental help.
I feel sorry for for the fish under the Baltimore bridge.
ok?
We don't know about Hazmat material coming into the country until the ships reach port that seems like a catastrophe waiting to happen certainly have a tugboat escort to avoid something like this somebody dropped the ball we need to write a bill to fix this
