That’s a fair question, impeachment is not just about removal from office. It holds presidents accountable, it puts on the record that congress feels the law has been broken. Also, in this case he needs to be impeached by both sides of congress because he should not receive post presidency benefits and never be able to run for office again. (Not to mention imprisoned) However, Pence needs to do the honorable thing and remove him using the 25th amendment, anything less he is implicit.
If he gets impeached, and removed from office he loses benefits such as a pension and other benefits . He can still do a lot of harm to the country in the remaining days as president as he have access to all security armed codes.
He will also not be able to run for president again !
