Because we've been sold the idea that an impeachment means the president is out. Unfortunately, the impeachment is just a write-up and requires the Senate to remove the president. The dumb thing is that logic would dictate that the Supreme Court should have that say instead of the Senate. That would mean that the two other branches of government are agreed on removing the head of the executive branch.

@@Zakill Articles of impeachment passed the House of Representatives and the trial was held by the Senate. Just because the Senate didn't remove him from office does not mean he wasn't impeached. Impeachment is the part done by the House.

For those wondering if it’s worth impeaching him this time, it means he:
1) loses his 200k+ pension for the rest of his life
2) loses his 1 million dollar/year travel allowance
3) loses lifetime full secret service detail
4) loses his ability to run in 2024
Absolutely worth impeaching. It’s the only option right now as Trump won’t resign, and Pence won’t invoke the 25 th.
i mean, we survived over nine months on $1200, some had nothing. and we barely got $600, some still got nothing. based on the numbers, we can survive another 4-5 months. if the new administration passes a third stimulus package within this time frame, id say we've made progress.
that said, we need to impeach trump asap. i believe its better to get it all done when it is still fresh on their minds. plus, its an open and shut case. i dont think it will take that long. the stimulus package -- im not worried about that. democrats have control of the house and senate. it should be much easier to pass legislation and i know biden is eager to start working on his campaign promises. if we wait over three months to hold trials, people will be voting based on fogged memories and the precedent that was set -- that the u.s. doesnt care if someone hijacks our democracy. they wont remember the insurrection as a criminal act. so delaying it only means a lengthy trial filled with long debates. trump supporters will definitely have a field day.
