Congrats to Stowkowski on second but should’ve given his all in the 100 fly regardless of how the 100 back went. Not just one event.

In 2016 ncaa Connor Oslin scratched the 100 fly because he was seeded first in 100 back against Ryan Murphy. Stokowski was A final regardless of how fast he went he got his team points

Stowkowski's best time would've only been good for 6th in the 100 fly, and the only people he would've beaten would've been his own teammates. Rather than expending a lot of energy for essentially the exact same result points wise, him and his coach decided to cruise the 1 fly for this instead. While he didn't win, getting second here was way better than potentially fading to 4th or 5th due to fatigue. The 1 fly wasn't an instance of him dogging it on his own because he didn't feel like it, it was a carefully calculated tactic by both him AND his coach

Is my math right? Is Marchand's second 50 of backstroke in his 200 IM as fast as these guys second 50 in their 100 back?

yes. realistically i think marchand could go 43.00 or 42.90. His underwaters are insane and doesn’t train backstroke like fly/br

Lol, there's almost no backstroke in backstroke. Just call it reverse butterfly.
