I scrolled down to write the exact same thing! It had such potential, but I didn't feel invested with any of the characters. And the "big plot twist" was anything but that.

It was an amazing movie, don't compare it to everything else in the market, it was unique in it's own way. I would put in to Drama genre instead of SciFi. If you don't know how to enjoy both, then this movie is not for you.
I wanna agree with you, but what drama? Only drama was when there was a slight disagreement on how to reach back to Earth.

Really great movie. I’m kind of tired of the basic storylines that Hollywood keeps putting out with the same structures, plot devices, and endings over and over. This one felt like a breath of fresh air

This movie never made sense.
They were just checking if Earth was safe for everyone to emigrate back. If it was safe then I’d imagine that they’d either send a message of some sort, stay, and wait for those willing to go to Earth. But if you’re talking about the two going back to their planet, they had a whole colony back there. They already came from one consisting of everyone that made it there when Earth was dangerously close to being uninhabitable.
The movie suggest that if they return to earth they will 99% be dead. So that was the only option.
I think there were others elsewhere and in bunkers i think. I'm assuming they had ships maybe for those people to use once somewhere was found to go to? But if its just two they are going to have kids and then their kids are going to have kids with each other and then over time humanity will become crazy mutants running around eating each other.
@@kristianaprinsca2851 It looked like everyone on earth was either dead or dying and was told by Clooney to turn around. I didn't see the mention of the colony.
The effects of the movie may have been “groundbreaking” but literally nothing else was. This movie was slow, extremely predictable, there was no reason to care about any of the characters and ultimately everything that happens is completely pointless. This film was 100% style over any form of substance.
I really enjoy slow paced movies like this that make me just sit in the emotions of the characters for awhile, but that’s just me
Her suit would've decompressed and she would've lost consciousness long before she would've noticed she was bleeding. The tear in her suit alone makes the droplets of blood in her helmet physically impossible. They admit at the beginning of this clip "someone needed to die" and the lack of research and meaning to this death shows in the script. This moment in the story did not occur naturally and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Like.. a death on a TV show for ratings 🥴

I love this movie and the main character especially, but this scene was rather gruesome and disturbing to watch. 😣
What pissed me off so much is the whole "uncharted flight path" thing. Doesn't really exist irl because guess what, space is massive and everything's moving so the path you'd take home is always changing. It's always kind of unknown lol which isn't anything inherently bad! And the chance asteroids just fly into your path is so so small. Also "we couldn't communicate because earth is out of range" sod off. We're talking to Voyager 2 to this day which is past Pluto.

@@usernick247 whether it was invisible or visible, air would drop instantly instantly like a balloon and what about the pressure? It will be instant death with pressure drop. They showed the realism with blood but forgot rest of the stuff. Why am I expecting logic from Hollywood? lol

Cool as it is, practical sets are better. They really spend alot of cash on animating when it could have been poured into the story itself. If we want to talk visual effects, then its Mandalorian we can talk about.
Can someone explain what happened to the little girl’s parents? Was she now stuck there for the rest of her life?
Iris(the little girl) was a figment of his imagination and it was stated earlier in the movie that he was on the verge of death YEARS ago so it was kind of hinted that he could’ve been hallucinating her as a way to signal his final days. If you watch closely, you’ll notice that the one time she spoke, it was as if his reality broke(when the mission started going badly). After we saw the ice break and he made it out safely, it seemed as if Iris was used to the harsh cold and sudden event but she doesn’t look any older than eleven and it wouldn’t make sense for her to be living in the facility for as long as she was perceived to be without being found out. It is also revealed at the end that Iris was the old man’s daughter and he only saw her as a child because that’s how he remembers her due to him never really stepping up as a ‘father’ and meeting her personally after finding out she existed. The pregnant astronaut is the real Iris grown up and in the end it seemed as if she went back to the planet that humanity fled to when Earth became uninhabitable.

@@tokyo7815 I think maybe the astronaut lady *is* his daughter but she doesn’t realize it and he’s seeing her as a figment of his imagination as a child because they were separated back then, no?

I feel like the aesthetic designs and good VFX are cool and nice to watch, but there is a serious lack of tension and emotional connection. Could've been great, was mediocre.
So what there were great effects? Watching a snowman melt would be more thrilling than watching this movie

Beautiful looking movie, story made no damn sense. What was the payoff? Did the two astronauts that went to Earth find their family? The married couple last surviving members of the human race? If they are they sure didn't act like it. Like wtf...no emotions from either of them. Would have been nice to see their reaction to something!

I liked the movie but the ending kinda sucked. It was pretty much what you expected to happen it wasn't really a twist it was just oh you did that stupid thing again that I was hoping it wasnt.

Like most of these Netflix movies it could have been good but turned out kinda of just blah.
If you guys could invest 1/10 of the blood CGI energy to care/read a basic astronomy book that would have helped a lot. Shameful experience.
