I don't get why critics are hating on this movie, when an hour pass this movie just hooked me up right through the end, an absolute acting masterpiece and beautiful storyline.

Amen. Life is not some linear story or orderly sequence of bland and predictable events. Thins, places, and people experience shake ups.

The moment Mamaw stormed out the hospital to collect J.D. That was good old fashioned : commitment , backbone, and a strong helping of love.

I remember going through a non-good moment in my life and seeing this movie was like a sort of therapy. You do not imagine how much I cried seeing this film because it reminded of those movies I used to watch with my dad who's passed away when I was 11. So, that's why Hillbilly Elegy is a meaningful movie to me.

The scene of them at the motel and Bev crying over the wasted heroin really impacted me. I don’t know of anyone going through addiction but I can imagine someone actually being that lost and unstable to never escape addiction.

Because it evoke sympathy on white folks from the rust belt who have been through a lot because of the economic decline....just read their reviews on rotten tomatoes.

It's because they have a problem with the politics of JD Vance's book. Also a lot of them seem to think Amy Adams and Glenn Close were too over-the-top with their acting (I don't agree, but there's your reason).

most critics are liberals or maybe all. This movie is based on white americans that goes through hardships, drug use etc. and liberals hate that so. They think this is just mere fiction and white working class americans doesnt go through this type of hardships.

The scene at the motel, Beverly reaching for JD’s hand, and the back flash of scenes in his memory. That hit me like a truck.
My mom was not addicted but she has schizophrenia. A lot of crisis and violence at home. But yet there was my grandma, stepping in and stepping up.
This is a masterpiece on how real families struggle through life.

Critics cursed this movie because they only have one narrative story for American hardship shows how shallow they are down with them

Amy seems so scruffy and a little fatter. If this film had been released when I was a kid, it would have shocked me to learn that she was not wearing makeup. She is nevertheless courageous to have done that in the necessity of her role, I will never have the guts to do that
