And just because you are being choked doesn't mean that you can't get some air in just means you can't get enough in. 8 minutes of having someone's knee on your neck is definitely enough to kill them. Also we're gonna have to wait for the independent autopsy they are most likely trying to cover their ass.

    • @Aj-sn1dp
      @Aj-sn1dp 3 년 전 +105

@first last The autopsy is bullshit and has been debunked by multiple doctors. It was funded by the state, the same state that was willing to cover it officers murdering and innocent man. No amount of underlying conditions will kill a person unless they've got a pig pressing down on their neck. Saying "I can't breath" doesn't not mean you are completely cut off from air. You sound like a damn idiot. Bystanders begged the cop to check his pulse and Thao did, he said he was dead. Chauvin then continued to kneel on him for 2+ minutes while Floyd laid in a pool of his piss and foamed at the mouth. He killed him. If you can't see that, then this is on YOU. Considering the fact that a man was killed in front of a crowd and was being recorded being murdered by a cop while his cop buds stood around this is a good time for this to get recommended. The only reason that there are ANY repercussions for those cops is purely because the footage of a man being murdered went viral. Imagine if that footage didn't go viral and there wasn't a crowd to record that.

The murder alone would normally be enough to enrage the average American but the fact that the police officers involved are currently being protected with (at least at this current time) no guarantee that they will even face prosecution is insanity. I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if this ends in another example of a murdering cop getting a slap on the wrist with an imaginary wet spaghetti noodle. I'm so angry right now. I do live in this 'country' and I'm pissed off the system is failing so badly from top to bottom. Leadership is absent and when present it's almost always divisive. So the people rise up and maybe it will rock the world enough to make a difference for the lives of the oppressed. I don't feel oppressed, it doesn't touch me, I'm quite privileged, but I feel the oppression I keep witnessing on others who are not. As a fellow human I can not stand by without great criticism. This world is broken. I just want people to treat people with fairness. Protest and uprising is a symptom of leadership and participants in the system failing to provide equal protections to all our citizens. Fix it or get out.

simple because classical news agencies are controlled by a minor group of huge industries who are either controlled by republicans who are favorable to give excessive powers to police officers. NPR does. PBS does. Propublica does. Local stations sometimes do, too. But they take a while to produce and research, and the cost of making them isn't usually sustainable or affordable for smaller networks or publicly-owned networks to get behind. And they don't use comedy so much as they use footage and face-to-face interviews with venerated reporters conducting the questions, but they also can't lean into what they deem is partisan territory, so they pull punches and refuse to really appear too critical. Also they get smeared for "liberal bias" so nobody pays them any attention.

I actually graduated from a police academy, and I can testify that this is 100% true. I did not go on to become a law enforcement officer because I was Disturbed at the level of bias, conservatism, and just overall contempt for the community that I experienced while dating a law enforcement officer (he is now a deputy). Something to keep in mind is that, at least in my experience, there is a preference for veterans, and we all know what the military is trained to do.
in addition, there is a strong streak of conservatism that is not only encouraged but outright nurtured. Every police station television will be tuned to Fox news, Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Dinesh D'Souza are some of the only opinions these people are encouraged to consume. Despite evidence to the contrary, many law enforcement officers firmly believe that other races are more inherently criminal. They believe in bootstraps mentality, and reject the idea of systemic inequality, as well as painting other groups with a broad brush. most of the police officers I know are extremely unwelcoming of anyone who is not a white, straight, man. Women are considered to be either lesbians or sluts, and many of the officers I know resented them because they were believed to be less capable, and were therefore a liability.
I believe in the concept of policing by consent, and was constantly getting in trouble at the academy for not pulling my weapon "soon enough." I truly believe that police violence and gun violence are inextricably intertwined and that the only way to end police violence is to disarm the cops. Unfortunately, there are so many guns in America that it would not be possible to do that safely as the situation stands now.

This is a dangerous situation in today's climate as Liberal and Conservative (alongside racial and otherwise culturally, pretty much a lot of things are losing their grey area, much like how politics has lost compromise) factions form and become culturally distinct and start wanting fights, and typically when one side "rules" you in a system you revolt. American could be teetering towards societal collapse. With the way people are becoming less trusting, tolerant, more partisan and more paranoid, and with the complexity of the problems in ALL areas, if there isn't an opening for solutions I fear one day, some social scientists predict in the decade of the 2020s, we will wake up, turn on our tv, and hear: krplus.net/bidio/kdisZ4akfJ-loXI
Only so much stress a system can take, social scientists like Peter Turchin who analyze historical chaos believe the 2020s are going to be, best case, an unstable decade for America. evonomics.com/science-predicting-rise-fall-societies-turchin/ Due to many factors, that, depending on how they intermingle, can take us to very ugly places.
Or they may lead to something small and actual changes, or change can occur just in time to save us nothing is assured, this is multi-path forecasting like he weather, but like the weather some patterns can tell us what to expect and the paths change, some opportunities are lost, with the degree of chaos we're already seeing, I don't know myself about hope sometimes.
A society cannot function without fairness, as long as someone is getting stiffed or believes they are, we cannot maintain a cohesive society.

    • @fandomguy8025

Things here are complex, problems emergent from many problems. And solutions all have a different mix of answers, but some may not like your solutions. And if they feel like their voices aren't being heard, they will revolt. One cannot impose such a rule, and people will have objections that need to be addressed, how can cops protect and defend without guns? "gun owner ship is a basic right!" Sometimes it's personal. This is the complexity in the gridlock we face where nothing is getting done in politics.

Some complained about the risk vs reward, others the general hate toward their profession, but all had some story about being witness to corruption and violence by their fellow officers.

On top of accumulating experience that actually relates to their desired profession of expertise. You're speaking from a place of privilege. Also, there are jobs where they don't count internship as experience, REGARDLESS of what you did. It literally states it in the job description for those looking to apply.

So I’m supposed to know I want to be a specific job and find an internship at that age? When my only skills I learn from that internship would most likely be driving and coffee and not the actual job?

And being showered with Fox News and Alex Jones, which I think is enough to drive a human being insane.
And that‘s the problem: most people who would make thinking, respectful, open-minded cops probably can‘t stand working in a place where being prejudiced and violent-prone is a the norm. So the job is left to Fox News viewers.

@@gn02256676 I'm not disagreeing with you on the accountability part, because I do believe everyone should be held accountable for their actions on both sides, but you always have to take in account for the fact that police officers in HK are getting beat and abused, especially since you're mentioning the protest. One cop was lit on fire, another's finger was bitten off, and one was stabbed 3 times. So, when cops are out there trying to disperse crowds, you cant really blame them for being more aggressive on their tactics...in riot control in any other police agency, whether it be in the western world. It's far more aggressive, regardless how long the protests/riots have been. This is the same argument people have in the US, because who can blame them when cops can get a gun pulled on them in a matter of seconds. But, of course cops need to be held accountable, especially if there is a wrongdoing. I also need to add that you're saying police here in the US target minorities. Yes, that maybe true, but in a large crowds during a riot/protest. It's fair game, because it's hard to differentiate people in a large crowd on who's who and their job is disperse the crowd indiscriminately.

@@PandaSquad25 Hard to differentiate is not the reason beat up whoever they want and arrest whenever they want, especially paired with not being held unaccountable. The tactics HK police are using is not just disperse the crowd indiscriminately, they try to spread fear to anyone who speak out.

You cannot tell me denying medically treatment, delaying lawyer to meet those arrested for hours are "disperse the crowd indiscriminately".
