As someone who hasn't read the books yet, the way the Crows' plot was incorporated into the story seemed very natural. I was surprised to find out it had changed so much from the books. So many YA adaptations mess things up when they make changes but this one did it right.
as someone who has read the books, i think the reason it was done so well is because they kept the core of the characters, and changed the plot to fit them and make in character decisions
@@wandamaximoff4091 makes sense. I think often adaptations change things without putting enough thought into keeping things in-character
It probably helps that the author is an executive producer. She knows these characters and the story best. I think it’s also the smartest decision ever, I personally only read the crows books so I don’t know if I would’ve been so interested in the show if they weren’t a part of it. And it’s like a new story altogether. Really good thinking on their part. And keeping the author involved helps make the book fans happy as well, as they keep true to the characters. This is probably my favorite Netflix show, actually.

Set design and costumes are truly otherworldly. Casting is magnificent.
The showrunner Eric Heisserer even said they don’t have a huge budget but they still nailed it... It is amazing!
This show warms my soul in so many ways: a) Ben Barnes b) finally eastern europe/Russia inspiration done in a positive way! c) perfect fantasy mash-up of Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter/Peaky Blinders d) likeable rich characters we want to know more about. and did i mention BEN BARNES?? OMG. Netflix please give us season 2 already!
Since it is based on the books of leigh bardugo what I can say is if they ever have a 2nd season i believe it will get more interesting! Especially there are more characters that will be introduced😁 in the 2nd book
We have the same thought! Shadow and Bone has the vibes of GoT, Avatar-legend of Aang, Harry Potter, Diversity of Russian-European-etc culture; assembles in one. And I really love it
WHEN THE DARKLING STATED THAT HE AND ALINA HAVE NO EQUAL--THEY COULDNT HAVE DONE ANY BETTER THAN THEY DID WITH THE DARKLING. NETFLIX REALLY IS STUDYING LEIGH'S CHARACTERS AND TAKING GOOD CARE OF THEM IN THE SHOW.

My English literature teacher once told us that an effective actor can make the people hate the character you're portraying if you're a villain in the story, and Ben Barnes performance as the darkling is exemplary. From the acting, the costume and the emotion, everything about him in this show is just amazing. I'm a sucker for the good guys but how can I hate the bad guy if Ben Barnes is just simply outstanding.😍👏

How many books are they gonna adapt per season? One? I heard that it's gonna be a lot of difference between the book and tv show.
@@aliomar2912 i think s1 is basically shadow&bone mixed with a prequel to six of crows, and it’s planned to have 3 seasons (but that could change according to eric the producer). so if it follows the 3-season-plan it’s likely to be:
- s1: shadow & bone and a six of crows prequel
- s2: siege & storm and six of crows

The trailer doesn't do this show justice. The Crows' stories intertwined with the Journies of Alina and Mal is really clever, and what really makes this show so refreshing and the standout that it is. Season 2 please :)

My friend and I thought we'd check out just the first 5 minutes last night.... WE WERE HOOKED. Binged 4 episodes before going to sleep. This is the real deal - with Exceptional writing, a whole cast of new charismatic actors (many who are sure to break out) and great storytelling. With a setting as huge as Game of Thrones, and not dependent Only on special effects. Can't wait for the next season to appear.
Definitely the best new series in years. I am glad it got a second season! Well deserved! 👍👍👏 Looking forward to see the continuation of the story!

I don't think Bardugo, a worldwide best-selling author and amazing writer would use the word cheeks two times in the same sentence. Just saying cause I've seen the mistake everywhere!

Watching all their videos and interviews because I really miss them. AND I WANT A SEASON 2 RIGHT NOW!
I don’t know why I have seen the series only now, but oh, I’d want have done this before! One of the few shows inspired by a book that doesn’t disappoint the expectations. It’s very well-written, the characters are such amazingly presented, the special effects and music are wonderful. Personally I have understood every single choice of the show runner and the team: when they’ve added something different from the book, there is always a specific narrative reason, which works perfectly! And the performance of actors? 😍😍
I look forward to see the next season!
