3D land is basically what got me into the series honestly. Without that and the Wii I had I wouldnt be into the series now

I know Super Mario Galaxy 2 deserves to be recognized again, but Mario 3D Land is the game I grew up with for a very long time and it deserves to be recognized, man. Nintendo be acting like these Mario games don't even exist at all

I want to see Super Mario Land 1 on Switch online, a Switch port of Yoshi's Woolly World, Super Mario 3D All Stars Plus for Switch which gives us; 64, Sunshine, 64 DS, Galaxy 1, Galaxy 2, & 3D Land on one cartridge!

Super Mario 3D Land was my childhood and I would love to see the game come to the switch! Same with Super Mario Galaxy.

I thought Mario Galaxy 2 just felt like a big celebration to the series, the opening cutscene plays like the past 2D Mario games, They brought back levels from 64 sunshine and Galaxy 1 and the elements like Yoshi, Fuzzies, Lakitus, spinies, checkpoint flags were all from New Super Mario Bros. Wii which is just everything for what a Mario game is supposed to be instead of a typical bear bones sports game like Mario Sports Superstars

With a few changes Mario Dance revolution would be a popular one in this day and age. Game comes with a dance mat, and I Remember playing this as a kid

You know what I want on the next console, especially if it is dual screen? Color splash. Yep, I want that game. I never got to play during the Wii U era, and now that my Gamepad doesn’t work right, I want it on a modern console. I even want a Color Splash 2.

I really don’t know about 3D Land per se but, as far as Galaxy 2, my theory is related to its development. One of the worst times to be working at Nintendo and that’s because the developers behind Galaxy 1 were excited to work on their next project, but seeing the success of the first game, Miyamoto was like “No more Mario Galaxy” and there weren’t as many creative liberties like how the second game was supposed to have a story of its own but Miyamoto being Miyamoto forced it to be cut. It was just an all-around horrible time for Nintendo and I think that’s why they like to forget about Galaxy 2 these days.

I like 3d land more than 3d world for the reasons you talked about and because it feel like it has more creative level aesthetics and people forget that 90% of the really cool 3d land power ups enemies and level gimmicks came from 3d land and galaxy 2 is such a phenomenal game I like the first one a little more but I really wish I could play it on switch

Galaxy 2 was one of the first wii games I played and owned on the wii. I love that game and how they brought Yoshi into the formula allowing us to bring him along for the adventure. It still confuses me as to why this game wasn't included in 3D Allstars or when Nintendo celebrated mario day and completely push this game into the abyss like it never happened.

The thing with Yoshi is the controls. Lets break down Yoshi. So you point at things and press the button to lick. Holding it often holds the object. So on Wii you use the D Pad to move the camera and B to use the lick. On Switch you could say oh they had the pointer on the gyro so what is the problem with Yoshi. It's handheld. No matter how you map it it does not work. If you use the touchscreen you now need to press your finger on the screen and hold it. If you used the right stick you lose camera control and if you had some button to swap between the camera mode and pointer mode you are still dealing with holding the switch weird. Like legit try platforming on Yoshi without camera control. While the camera is limited you still often need to turn it to you know see. The pointer controls on Yoshi are to advanced to easily be played in handheld. You can only remap so much. Yoshi by design only works when you have full pointer and camera working as a pair.

Honestly for Galaxy 2, I think its specifically waiting for Switch 2 for a certain reason and that reason is the motion controls. In Galaxy 1, the cursor slowly keeps getting more out of place and you have to reset it. Same thing can be said about Skyward Sword HD (I heard the motion controls were terrible in that version). So at this point Nintendo is probably gonna wait until Switch 2. Bring that gameplay style back and actually fix it so they can remaster Galaxy 2 without having that problem. Also to prevent confusion, I was talking about pointing the joycon at the TV.

I can see Nintendo remastered super Mario galaxy 2 as it owns separate things as it own if we do get a remastered hopefully they give us one surprisingly this fall if not. Eventually we might get a remastered of smg2 and sm3DL I just don’t see it getting a remastered since 3DW overshadow this game on the 3DS and make us forget about 3DL. I really don’t see much on what they could do with 3DL if it got an HD update unlike Luigi’s mansion 2 which heavily needed an HD remake to enhance the graphics since the 3ds wasn’t powerful enough. It’s just 3DL to me was unique using the 3D stereoscope gimmick of the 3DS and see it on the switch wouldn’t make any sense to me.

Since Super Mario Galaxy 2 relies on using the pointer a lot especially with Yoshi, it may be waiting to be released for the Switch 2 with its more advanced controllers. If virtual reality headsets can track movement so accurately, why can't controllers track its position and rotation accurately relative to the console?

Considering the amount of people disheartened about Galaxy 2 being missing from the 3D All Stars collection, did Nintendo really think we could forget?

I really do think the Yoshi controls, along with some smaller things, are actually the reason Galaxy 2 wasn't in the package. The problem is that some of these mechanics basically require you to move, jump, and point at the same time. Meanwhile their solution for pointer controls in handheld mode was the touchscreen, and considering the rest of the package any solution more complicated than that was probably off the table, meaning that Galaxy 2 wouldn't really be compatible with handheld. Maybe they would've let that slide in the first two years, but with the Switch Lite on the market I doubt they'd want to release a big $60 package where a decent chunk of their player base can't even access 25+% of it.

Mario Galaxy 2 is my most favorite Mario game. I hope to see a remaster or remake instead of a normal port. The background of the different worlds in the level select screen had so much visual potential but was nerfed by wii's standard graphical quality.

I can wait for 3D Land because my 3DS still works and I can still play Super Mario 3D Land. Also, I have quite the nostalgia for that game because that's technically my first 3D Mario game and my first Mario game total! I remember vividly my brother playing it on his 3DS, and I wanted to play it too. And when I was starting to get fully into the Mario kick, he gave me one of his old copies of the game! I don't know why he had more than one. And he was pretty much done from the Mario kick.

If I had to guess, I'd suspect Nintendo is concerned about how well 3D Land would work without the 3D. I noticed early on in your clips a section that purely top-down, and that is hard to play without 3D. However, I also notice most of the other clips add a bit of a diagonal, so maybe they could shift the camera a bit in those sections, too.

Now that I think about it, how the heck did 3D World become more popular than 3D Land?!?!
I know Nintendo was giving more attention to Wii U games when the Switch came out, but even before then, this Wii U sequel was apparently stealing the spotlight from its 3DS predecessor… and that statement seems almost paradoxical, given how the Wii U and 3DS did.

What you said about Galaxy 2 is strange to me because everyone I is aware of Galaxy 2 and most people I know prefer Galaxy 2 over 1.

I think what I liked most about Super Mario 3D Land is actually all the Special Worlds although some people don't like them because they are mostly rehashed versions of the normal levels. But I like the fact that the game is longer by that because I actually like long games with a lot of content, even if it gets repetitive sometimes.
And what I liked most about Super Mario Galaxy 2 is either the music or that I find the various galaxies more entertaining and diverse than the ones in the first Super Mario Galaxy. However I must also say that I liked the story in SMG1 better than in SMG2.

Oh the 3 games for Mario 3d All Stars could/should be: Mario 3d Land, Mario Galaxy 2, and Mario 64 Ds

Fans are fine with the Super Mario 64: Shindou Paku Taiou being released in the US. That version is still re-released in Japan.

I never even played Mario Galaxy 2. When it was originally released, for whatever reason, it just slipped by me. And its, to this day, the only mainline Mario game I never played. I'd love to get another shot at that.

I think super Mario galaxy 2 relies on the pointer feature too much, especially with Yoshi, and using the joycon as a Wii remote to point at the screen is so janky and broken it would make that final level so much more difficult than it already is. It’s not an excuse, I genuinely feel like it would be unplayable and not fun. But that’s not to say they couldn’t do something to fix it (like using gyro controls when you have the joycons in the grip?) Mario galaxy is my favourite series of all time so I hope we see it again one day!

Yeah. In the case of Galaxy 2, I’d’ve been fine with having to unlock it by beating Galaxy 1 in 3D All Stars. It just makes too much sense, which is why it doesn’t make sense for it to not be there.

We’re coming up close to the 40th anniversary now - if they have a Mario 3D collection for that hopefully SMG2 and 3D Land will both be included. Not sure what would go with it though - Odyssey is too new, and 3D World seems unlikely given it was recently remastered for the Switch 🤔 Maybe SM64DS but that seems the least likely of all 😅

I wanted to buy my self Mario galaxy 2 to give it a chance… but I couldn’t find it. I searched the name Mario galaxy 2 and the first thing that pops out is: a galaxy 1 100 dollar offer and that offer just got followed by other galaxy 1 offers.

3D Land HD would be ruined if the 3D World Textures were used. Also, if they made Mario smaller, then the levels would be big enough for 4 players, with player 3 being yellow toad instead of Peach.

Tbh I think Nintendo just wanted 3 games for the 3D all stars and maybe they haven't actually planned for it to be a big game and maybe we could get another all stars Mario game with way more content then the original 3D all stars game or even the original one, and I think this is where Nintendo might be adding Galaxy 2 and 3D land, but yeah, its just a prediction of mine and might not happen (also I love your content)

Yeah it's sad. 3D Land is one of my favorite Mario games, it was so fun to run around in, explore, and to complete at 100%.
Well I didn't get those shiny stars that happen if you never unlock the White Tanooki Suit but how are you even supposed to know about that ? In my eyes, I completed it at 100%.
There are so many little secrets and things to explore, fun secrets and Easter Eggs to find, it reminds me of how people talk about the fun of exploring the first Mario games on the NES, something I don't feel with these games but that I feel with 3D Land.
And I guess that makes sense considering the obvious inspiration 3D Land took from SMB3.
If you finished everything, you could even try to beat your own best time in the levels since your best time on each level is remembered by the game.
And also beat the best times of other people who had this game that you met via Street Pass back when it was relevant.
It's just a great and fun time overall, very underrated.

My favorite things about Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D Land is obviously how more superior they look. I particularly liked the Cosmic Mario levels in 3D Land because I am OBSESSED with that enemy. Additionally, I simply liked the storyline of both games and the collectibles, like grabbing all 3 Star Medals in 3D Land. I also ESPECIALLY liked the music variety in both games. 👍👍👍

I played both ad I enjoyed galaxy 2 more than the first one, it's more fun traveling across the various objects and platforms and fun; Mario is more funny as the than his first entire experience, yet there are moments that you will find joy because of the sudden funny moments caused by interactions.
