@@amazingboat0769 I found it quite calming as a kid. All the sound effects are cool too when you switch to different sides of the cube. Was pretty revolutionary since N64 didn't even have a menu.

The Nintendo Switch is awesome.
The problem is the simplicity of the menus... they're *too* simple.
The Wii U had music in the menu, the options, and I especially liked the Mii Maker's music.
All the Switch has is.....silence....
Speaking of the Mii Maker, all of us used to the Wii, Wii U and 3DS expected to see it as an app or something, like the eShop. The last place I'd expect the Mii Maker to be is the System settings.
Its not too bad but it does get boring after some time. Even backrounds would be enough
The switch has a small chip making it unable to have music or switch themes the designers wanted the switch to run as good as possible so they had to die down on those options

Guys, don’t worry, it’s not laziness! The guy said it was “simplicity”... Even though this menu has no personality or customization (or any love put into it) it was a design choice to give it “simplicity”.
but it's very bad, we have more the charm and the atmosphere of Nintendo consoles (and even consoles in general, the ps 5 is much better for example) and we have nothing more to do in the menu, when we see the menu of the switch we are sad whereas before we felt the charm and a certain atmosphere
For me it’s more confusing then helping. The eshop is a mess. It’s boring and no organization. I couldn’t find the mii maker and when I did I felt a rock drop it was boring

My dream isn't driftless joycons, my dream is unfourtunatly... Working joycons :( (the red had issues two days after I got the switch and now It can't even sync to the switch. Even when attached. The Switch's HOME Menu feels like a tech demo compared to the 3DS HOME Menu.
Please add more backgrounds than just the black and white ones and some music to make each Nintendo switch console unique.

That's because KRplus didn't officially release one for ages.
Honestly looking back on the home menu I appreciate how organized they made it. Most home menus just have applications scattered all over the screen but Nintendo kept it nice and organized. I also don’t really mind the silence anymore because it helps me think about what great game I should play next. It also helps me appreciate the satisfying sounds of clicking on a game or option.

agreed. i have a friend who’s in 6th grade, and likes the dsi more than the switch.
I miss the 3ds menu, it was so organized and neat, had themes that played music, each game would have a short jingle or a song when you were selecting it, just so amazing. But having multiple users on switch is something great. What upsets me is that people working alone on custom firmware can make amazing menu's, adding themes and adding things everyone wanted, so the switch CAN handle this much, but nintendo wont. I guess its because oversimplification is a trend in companies.
Yeah.. when i’m bored i just open my 3ds and play around with the homescreen, or activity log, photos, stuff like that! But I don’t do that on the switch.. the eshop is a pain to navigate.. so laggy..

The switch is a very cheap build
actually make the home menu likeable, like add music, maybe curve the squares, allow us to remove the small circles on the bottom, allow us to pin apps onto the home screen, and have a separate apps drawer, get rid of the news stuff on the lock screen, let us have netflix, make custom themes from special games AND LET US SET PASSWORDS TO UNLOCK THE SWITCH!!

Modded 3DS is actually a lot better than the switch in case of menu and functionality, considering how old the console is. Nintendo Switch is just a trash kids toy and piece of plastic. The 3DS was something else.

The Switch Online things need to go below the menu kinda like on Xbox and we need the Mii Chanell to be its own icon in replacement of the switch Online icon and we will need them to redesign the Mii channel to look like the Nintendo Wii U or 3DS then they will add another icon for Miiverse. I still think the Switch menu at the moment has no soul! The quality of the Nintendo Switch is AMAZING but the menu gets boring within 6-8 months I think it is about time that we get themes. Chances are Nintendo is not going to redesign the menu but I think now I think more themes for the switch are needed considering they have a whole entire button for "Themes" yet the only themes are literally called "Basic" and "Basic Dark"

Miis should have a more prominent apperance on the menu, like having a mii button to jump right into the the mii maker.
Also adding some music to pretty much all the interface for once, it makes the switch by itself pretty charmless. Take the Wii's interface for example, pretty much everyone remembers the wii for its catchy menu music, it gave it personality.
The switch homescreen is my one constant in life, I was shocked when they added the NSO icon but thankfully it hasn't changed since

If there is one thing about the switch I hate, it's the home menu. This new home menu is quick and efficient... but sterile. Which sounds weird coming from the WiiU with its bloated UI, but honestly, at-least it had character. Seriously Nintendo, no ambient music?!? The thing that was most endearing to me from the wii, wiiu, DS and 3DS lineup, has been its quirky Nintendo charm. With those systems, you didn't even have to have a game yet and you could have a whole day of enjoyment just playing with all the menu apps and hidden features etc... I cant believe this console doesn't even have one app or feature outside of gaming.
It truly feels like this was menu system was rushed, and I sincerely hope we have a big update to bring the charm and character back soon. If this is the style of new Nintendo, then this is a very sad day for me.
Richard Determann Totally agree. The thing I love about Nintendo systems is the "Disney World feeling"; every menu felt like an event, especially on the Wii. Almost everything had a gamey component. When you downloaded something from WiiWare on the Wii, you had Mario hitting the blocks?! That was so awesome!

Well I like the interface more than anything else, mostly to change, we have gone from having a menu like very ... Very overloaded, everything very round, etc, to have a simpler, more modern one, and as you mentioned, effective.
