I’ll never get over how DK was ever able to change the channel back on his one-button TV remote.
The button is click-sensitive considering how big that said button is
The button is a d-pad
The power switch to turn off the TV is on the TV itself or just unplug it

I like how the constantly repeating “Buy them all!” implies that DK was originally going to legally purchase every Mini Mario he could get his hands on. But because the one toy store was sold out he just resorts to robbery instead.

Unless they change it I think Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will also probably have Charles Martinet too, and I guess Thousand Year Door too but obviously that’s only small grunts, after that though, might be the end of Charles archival voices.
This animation is simply incredible. Can you imagine a Mario Tv show with these visuals? Nintendo, you really gotta do it.

His dialogue in the game is a mix of both.
Eeeh in the original he says a few actual sentences AND gibberish. Here it's all replaced by just "Hey, wait !" which kinda sucks.

Some of the charm that came with all of the various lines Mario said to DK in the original version of this is missing though, like “no you don’t, no you don’t” and “get back here you big-a monkey”! It just feels empty without them.

I love that this remake is keeping the original voice lines from the original game. Most people would call that cheap and lazy, but the original game had some of Martinet’s best material and I can’t wait to hear it all fully decompressed.
They unfortunately didn’t keep all of the voice lines from Mario. Hopefully they might be moved to later points in the game and not all be fully removed but if they are just gone then it just gives a reason to return to the original alongside also playing the remake

@@supercamborg4218 The original’s sprites look like horrible compressed renders, other Mario GBA games had amazing spritework like Superstar Saga and the Advance games, but MvsDK just fails horribly. No wonder why they had to remake the game instead of putting it on NSO.

OMG!!!! I remember this beat by beat of how it starts up in this cutscene! And to see it fully animated makes me cry alittle by how pretty it looks now!!

I love how the audio stays faithful to the original, especially with the original voice clips, while only making changes for consistency. For example, DK doesn't say "Hey, cool!" and only makes ape noises.
I do hope Mario's Italian babbling wasn't removed from the opening cutscene, though. I thought it was charming.
I believe in the original game, DK's voice clips were taken from Donkey Kong 64, where he was voiced by Grant Kirkhope. This remake uses his more modern voice actor.

I am so glad that they kept the original voice for Mario again. It respects the original game. On this note, however, will this be one of the final games to have Charles Martinet voice Mario?

@@BlazeHeartPanther I'm still gonna love the game, but I'm gonna be heartbroken if they took out most of the full sentences. Modern Nintendo doesn't seem to like Mario speaking a lot of English, there's a noticeable drop in it after the 2000's.
It will not be his last game. Charles Martinet will be in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Paper Mario the thousand year Door. I really hope Charles Martinet’s voice will be reused in some Brand New Mario games and not just remakes

This was my first ever game, and watching the scenes brought me memories I didn’t even know I had, thank you Nintendo for bringing this masterpiece back
I'm a bit bummed out that they didn't give Mario the lines Martinet did on the GBA but everything else is so good. Also DK just channel flipping on the couch is a total mood.

I still think Wish looks really good. It's just that the animation was made to be presented on a movie screen, not a TV screen. The watercolor effect looks pretty good, and I can't find anything bad about it.

I don’t understand how people aren’t understanding why Mario isn’t saying the original voice lines anymore, this was a project that was most likely started just before Martinet’s retirement from the role of Mario, so they kept Martinet’s voice but couldn’t record any new lines, so they’re just cycling through Wii U era Mario voice lines for this remake, a bummer for sure, but understandable given the circumstances
Nintendo should have surely still had the source files for the original voices, and been able to use them uncompressed.
Nice to see DK get some acknowledgement

This game never gets old.
Things to confirm:
1: Mario owns a Toy Production Company, which means that Mario is making money.
2: Multiple toads are working at said Toy Production Company, which means either slaved labor, or unenslaved labor.
3: When Donkey Kong entered the building, the toads panicked instead of trying to alert some form of security, which means a lack of police force in the mushroom kingdom.
I like how the toads always get freaked out for the smallest things.
Glad to hear that after 20 years, they're still 40 dollars.

I kind of overlooked this game because it came out around a time I was too young to actually play the original myself. Seeing this cutscene fully animated is really cool. And I love hearing the famous arcade jingle as well.

Surprised they’re reusing his voice clips from the original release (uncompressed of course) when DK has updated non-Kirkhope voice clips (pretty sure Grant’s DK was used for the original), but it’s a welcome one to be sure.
