Kinda salty that they spoiled the first big plot twist of the game in this direct, because I love how it completely caught me off guard as I avoided coverage on the game from before the direct.

Odyssey has more to it than just finishing the story though. You NEED to get all those moons. Not to spoil anything, but the game starts after the story is over basically.
At least you could take it to your friends house, and then be a non-social person, one step up from the hermit!

Buying a Switch just for this game. Just like I did with the Wii (for Xenoblade Chronicles) and the WiiU (for Xenoblade Chronicles X). So hyped!

The Wii U came out over a year after Xenoblade Chronicles (for me in the UK anyway). Anyway, I got the Wii second hand so it was dirt cheap.
Xenoblade released in NA in April 2012 and the Wii U released in November 2012. I'm assuming you live in Europe or Austrailia?

Shulk actually died long before the beginning of the story.
Considering there's weapons to collect, Im sure the Shulk Amiibo will give you a Monado-inspired weapon, or some Shulk-inspired gear.
To those watching in preparation for the XC3 direct, this one shows:
* The basic premise, with lore that is spread out through the first few chapters in-game
* All playable characters
* Scenes from some big emotional moments
* A couple early "twists"
* Major systems in the menu (abilities, pouch items, affinity charts, Arts, accessories, merc missions, bonding)
* Almost every main region and town
* The main exploration gameplay and obscure enemy behavior
* Practically every aspect of combat
Edit: I skimmed the XC3 direct and it seems to have pretty similar content. Less in the realm of plot twists I think, and it was fairly tight-lipped on the events of the story like this one was, but it seemed to cover the vast majority of gameplay-related elements.
I had heard that the XB2 Direct had spoiled the Mythra part, which is a very big twist, and it turns out they did. I'm going to stay away from the XB3 Direct and go in blind when the game drops.
You can really feel that they really poured their heart and soul in developing this title. Love it.

no matter how hard you deny it, its hybrid console 2 in 1.. primary or not, its not wrong if i say its handheld because docked mode is not mandatory..
You did see Nintendo's recently released statistics right? The Switch has been used primarily as both, but after that it has mostly been used as a handheld device. Docked mode-only came in last. The proof is in the data, most players see the Switch as either a hybrid or a portable.
I personally play docked mode more, but that's just me.
I've played my switch docked once since march.
I've never played Xenoblade but this game looks freaking awesome

i played horizon, and while it's a good game, giving it game of the year is being quite generous. the combat was satisfactory, and really cool at first, but their wasn't enough robot types for the combat to remain entertaining throughout if you ask me. it got stale quick, but the story was great and it has potential for some nice sequels gameplay wise

@Linh, I find it available for pre-order on Gamestop and Walmart. Though Best Buy/Amazon don't seem to have it available, I'd imagine because it is not ready for pre-orders on those sites quite yet.
amazon has had it. They're idiots though. You have to click on the standard edition. Then on the page theres a drop down menu and you pick the special edition.

$300 is expensive for a game console in this day and age? That's reasonable given that the PS4 Pro is $500, as well as the Xbox One X, and both of those consoles are just upgrades from earlier versions, not a entirely new system like the Switch.

Heather Fincham Well it only kinda is.. It takes place in a very similar setting possibly the same world and at least with the same world elements. But it's not a direct sequel.
Still it's indeed closer to the first game including the amount of story so it was to be expected. It's nice to see that expectation to be confirmed though. ;-)

I wasn’t even a Xenoblade fan and didn’t even own a Xenoblade game when this direct happened(or even a Switch)but now I own Xenoblade 1 DE and 2 and Torna and Xenoblade 3 is my most anticipated game of the year by far in an incredible year for RPGs.

I’ve beaten XBC3, it’s a good game, but I still consider XBC2 to be my favorite in terms of story and gameplay. XBCX is my second favorite, it’s the best looking Xenoblade game graphics wise even compared to XBC3 as well as being an open world game that let’s you pilot mechs(skells).
Why are people complaining about the Season Pass when Witcher 3 did the exact same thing, and no one complained?

All off the DLC will be available *exclusively* on the $30 expansion pass.
Meaning if you only want the last story DLC (like me) you *have* to buy the expansion pass.
Nintendo fans aren't used to dlc so they feel personally attacked. Its gonna take some time for them to understand.
Maybe because you had THE OPTION to buy the expansions individually. Also every witcher 3 dlc was and still is FREE.

This game has become one of my favorite jrpg of all time. I've starved for a game like this. A jrpg that is unapologetic and keeps its Japanese. Since grandia, skies of Arcadia and and many others this is the one. I can't stop playing it. I totally love it.

The dude LITERALLY gets murdered in what looks like one of the earlier cutscenes of the game,
and then it looks like he's gonna have to fight everyone across all the Titans because he has the "holy Sword that might nuke everyone or something". Dude looks like he'll never get a break.
Shulk definitely had a pretty hard time with the stuff in his game too, but with Rex it seems WAY more consistently inconvenient.😥😥😥

last I remember everyone still lived on the planet's surface at the end of the first game so I wouldn't be too sure about that.
SuperSmashFan90 but in the beginning of the trailer they migrate to the Titans to avoid extinction so it probably is a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles just hundreds of years in the future
True Desbear so far the official statement from the creator himself is that just like other RPG franchises like "Final Fantasy" and "Persona" the xenoblade games are independent from one another storywise, but its a nice theory.

He was (mild Spoilers)
The leader of a sort of drug racket (Red Pollen orbs that have Super Effects on people) and when you confront him about his shady dealings, he fights back.
And there's 2 things unique about the fight:
1. He's the ONLY Nopon you can ever fight because Nopon are generally more your allies in the first XC.
And 2. The music that plays over the fight is the same one used for the more serious cutscenes and bosses in the game.
And by serious, I mean the last third of the game serious. It's soo (I) out of place.😂

(MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR XENOBLADE 1 AND X) Xenoblade 1, Shulk turns out to be basically a zombie used as a vessel for Zanza, X, everyone in NLA is in a artificial body that's running out of power, and now this game where it looks like the main villain kills Rex WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR!

Citizen of Zorcon Um... Fiora kind of... Died *first.* (He only Became Zanza's Puppet *after Taking hold of the Manado.*)
Deamon Feldman Um... actually no, Shulk died with his parents when they find the monado when he was just a child, Zanza used the body of shulk as a vessel, dickson knew this when he found him in the monado chamber, and so he took him to colony 9, so shulk was technically dead since before the game even started.

Now that I beat the game, all I can say is how much this Direct really spoiled a lot of good/interesting stuff, especially Mythra. Good thing that was like the only thing I remembered when I finally got the game.
