When I first watched this I thought "this is nice but no where near as emotional as the first games splashback vid" but now? 1 week until 3 when I have to finally move on from this wonderful game thats has been such a surprisingly impactful part of my life...that final screen of "Thank you for playing" hits me so hard I actually teared up. Only nintendo can make me feel sad to part with a silly game about teenage squids having water gun fights

It's genuinely amazing to see how Splatoon is a community-based game, from it's themes, story, and gameplay- everything is community driven. The very streets you walk in the game, you feel like you are truly a part of /something/. That's the magic of this game.

One thing I will always regret is not finding this game sooner. But I'll always be grateful that I was able to experience the last splatfest, even if Order lost. I love Off The Hook with my whole heart, and I can't wait them to grace us when the 3DLC drops.
Somewhat similar situation. I got the S1 barely two months after S2 was released. And barely got S2 for this fest specifically, my actual first splatfest.

I got into Splatoon 2 about a month ago, long after the final Fest. I watch all these videos and kick myself for not getting a Switch while Fests were happening. I'm making sure to get Splatoon 3 on launch, I love this game and the community, so easy to stay positive and happy here, may it be the vibrant colors, the music, or the aesthetic, even in Ranked, it's not like other games where your ranking matters a whole lot.
Each game being a couple minutes leaves you wanting more and enjoying the fight while it lasts, not worrying about the win. Another note on match times is that (at least in Turf War) the time limit doesnt let you get heavily invested into the single match. I love it.
So thanks for welcoming me well, Splatoon fans, it made me love this game even more to go to forums and see positivity overriding the "X is OP and broken, fix or I leave the game."

Oh my I always feel like I come back to this video every so often I did not get to play the Splatoon 2 splatfests so. Being able to experience Inkoplis square during Splatfest again for us who did not get to play its just amazing. It's not the end of Splatfests in Inkoplis Square.
Who remembers the first splatfest? It was ice cream vs cake. Seems like yesterday with the demo coming out as well.

This is super nostalgic for me. Splatoon has a special place in my heart and with the 3rd installment in the franchise being out for about 2 weeks it just makes this more nostalgic. I never really played Splatoon 2 much and got it in 2019. I was able to play the final fest and it feels like that was yesterday. I'll miss Splatoon 2 but I'll always remember it as the game that introduced me to this amazing franchise.

I just recently got a switch for Splatoon 3. I had one at my uncles, but he never let me get Splatoon 2. I just want to say thank you everyone, especially content creators, who kept me in touch with this game. It's even more emotional, not because I watched from the sidelines, hyped for nothing I could experience, but the time that has passed. Thank you everyone for being there, not only for the game, but the support you all provided me.

It's so lovely that they've made thank-you cinematics for each game's final splatfest, I personally haven't really seen many or any games that feel this in-the-moment connected to the players. It's endearing and it feels like the devs and squid world are right there with us

Watching this a few days from Splatoon 3's release, this makes me wanna cry, the eventual death of a beloved game that brought so many together really has me up in tears. Thank you Nintendo, generations you have created full of fun and enjoyable memories.

I feel really sad now because I tried so hard to convince my parents to get me Splatoon 2 years ago and I never got to play it, and now I look at this and think of how much fun I might've been able to have if I had just been able to get the game.
It had its ups and pretty MASSIVE downs but it was great. Still better than whatever’s going on in Sploon3. Very sorry you missed out.

i’m here the day of the first splatfest of splatoon 3, three years later. this is so heartwarming & sad at the same time. I still can’t believe how long it’s been honestly and this is so nice to watching even now
It's been 3 years.. There's 14 hours until Splatoon 3 releases. I accept that Order lost catastrophically, but I still think.. Where would we be if Order won? What if Order prevalied that day? There would be no Deep Cut, no scrap metal stages, no City of Chaos. There would be Order. Futuristic, beautiful Order. If only. I want to go into Splatoon 3 with no regrets. I can't seem to shake this one...

I can't believe this was posted 3 years ago, I remember missing the Chaos vs Order splatfest and crying over it. I still really wish I hadn't missed the final fest.
But Splatoon 3 is going to lauch soon, so maybe I'll have another chance.
I was replaying the octo canyon and I vividly remember summers from middle school. Time spent in battles squid-partying, losing, winning, and old salmon run shifts. I remembered such a specific lineup of blaster, brella, charger, and dualies that rolled around this week!
This was so much fun to a rural kid with no other neighbours for miles. Thank you Splatoon 2, it's team, and Nintendo for bringing joy (and frustration) to so many people.
Let the Splatocalypse begin, see you crazy squids and octolings in Splatoon 3. Stay Fresh everyone.

I find it amazing how far this new IP has come. I remember e3 2014 when Nintendo had two new IPs planned; Codename Steam and Splatoon. I don’t think anyone would have ever guessed Splatoon would go one to be up there with Mario and Zelda to headline the Nintendo Wii U and Switch. Thank everyone who helped bring us Splatoon and Splatoon 2, they’ve brought so many of us such joy
That said, I'm sad for S.T.E.A.M, I really liked that game, it deserved more.

Even though off the hook will always be my favorite splatoon band, I’ve already fallen in love with Deep cut and I’m super excited for new splatfests! Hope to see you guys there!!
With Splatoon 3 coming out this week I gonna really miss this game. I had so much fun with it since 2017 and now it's time to move on.

unfortunately no plans for it yet.
Hopefully they do a season 2 splatfest or something since there won't be a new Splatoon in the near future unless it's a spinoff.
Might be a long while before then, the Splatoon developers are also the ones making Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Nintendo generally likes to avoid overworking their staff by not putting them on more than one major title at a time. In fact that might be why the Splatfests have come to an end, so the team can put all focus on Animal Crossing (though I'm sure at least a small team will be left to handle things like patching exploits and dealing with hackers).
There are some concepts for the game but like they said who knows when its going to be announced
