I absolutely love how they tailored the classes to non-clichée character designs. Gramps thief and bulky sorcerer are a great idea.
I like these ideas too!
I live for the elderly summoner. Playable old women are rare in games in general.

I can think of Sayuri in Senran Kagura: Estival Versus, Niime in Fire Emblem 6 and the Goketsujis in Power Instinct. But that's not a lot in the great scheme of things!

We still need Vanillaware to put games on the Switch though, where's Odin Sphere and Dragon's Crown? It's been five years now and Atlus haven't supported the Switch properly.

JRPG’s were Nintendo’s lifeblood in the SNES days so why not now?
@@TheSignatureK I had a Snes back in the day with about 150 games because i also had a Profighter. (A dubious game copying device from Hong Kong) I must of had like only 3 JRPG's though! 🤔

@@trippersigs2248 disagree. Muramasa: Rebirth plays great. Much better than the Wii version. Odin Sphere was good. Dragon’s Crown was a ton of fun. Makes me wish I had my Vita still, but it was stolen along with all my games. Not willing to pay current prices to get those items back.
@@odjrin My main problem with them is that they dont have the gameplay or depth to last their overall runtimes. Muramasa Rebirth's Dlc short stories are the best vanillaware games because theyre brief and Odin sphere(which is easily the worst out of the bunch) is the worlds most gorgeous repetitive slog. Cant comment too much on Dragons crow as i never had the desire to actually finish it(which is a problem in and of itself). Vanillaware games either need more variety and depth or to be half as long as they are cause they get boring REALLY fast.
Tl;dr Having games that are both long AND repetitive is a bad mix.
13 Sentinels would have been awesome on Switch. Heck, the fact that quite a bit of it is like a visual novel would have been a nice fit for the Switch's portability.
This looks great. Love the art style.
This cast leans more on the older side (save for the kid). I'm all for it. And I'm so glad turn based and strategy JRPGs are making a comeback because for a while they all either turned into action games or remained in Japan only.

It's actually very similar to another Vanillaware game called Grand Knights History.
So excited for this! Not getting enough love from the Direct, I will be making sure everyone I know who likes JRPGs is aware of this. The character design is on point.
Looks like a mix of Child of Light-Odin Sphere and I definitely like it.

Oof it ain’t even pixel art, it’s 2D mixed with 3D and that’s literally been done long before Octopath (Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Vanillawear games, etc.) lol
@@xifeng1883 lol to you. 2D Models in 3D worlds isn't the same as 3D models in 2D worlds that are only 2D because the hardware sucked back then. There are also a lot of similarities with the battle system like the Weaknesses or Focus Points
It is an octopath traveller rip off though, spending focus points in order to empower attacks, and finding an enemy's weakness to negate their charge attacks / their turn, thats a literal rip off if it ships like this

Not only am I interested in the game, but if there's an "Art and Lore of Astria Ascending" book that comes out, I would totally buy it. It has a lovely painterly art style, and the fantasy races are not your typical elf/dwarf/orc fare, which is refreshing. Like, I have no idea what sort of being that is at 1:43, but just by looking at it, I'm extremely curious about its culture and lore. That's good character design. Here's hoping this game is as much of a winner as the trailer seems to indicate.

This game used to be an iOS game but they've changed it a lot and i'm very excited to see how it plays. The old game the classes revolved around astrology signs i'm wondering if this game does too... Can't wait!

@@Santoryu90 There is one that has reminiscent art style, another eden , but to be fair both the team have ex final fantasy devs , and the best looking mobile games dont look bad at all probleme is often the monetization .

It's not, but I can see why you thought that. It just emulates his logo style. The giveaway is the lack of signature, and the style of the faces.

i freaking hate it when enemies dont have healthbars. I was SO happy to find out you can scan enemies in CrisTales and from that point on, it always displays that enemy's health when you run into them again. I hope theres something like that here

I'm so glad this still has life, after being announced for the Vita 5 or 6 years ago.
I love this already and hope for a physical version but the wait is untill september 30th
I can see the Dragon's Crown in the art direction but character designs remind me of Legend of Mana and Ivalice races. It's more Square than Vanillaware even down to the logo.
