It really does feel like Breath of the wild now. The big thing will be roaming the environment and fighting monsters while gathering clues, while the cyberspace zones are for progression and key collection for the next locale. Given what I’ve heard through leaks about the villain, I’m expecting a genuinely touching story, and it seems Amy is going to have a bigger role than normal. I look forward to what’s to come.
That's because since it's open world, and Nintendo made BOTW, they think that marketing the game like BOTW could apply to advertising any open world game. so the reason, it feels more like BOTW, is bc Nintendo has marketed like it is
I think due to Sonic franchise's staple, Frontier will still have unique touch that separate it from BoTW. As in we're getting our first high speed platforming open world game. Many platforming open world games already exist but nothing on high speed like this
It's more of a Sonic Adventure than a Breath of the Wild.

I'm actually pretty optimistic for this despite all the recent hiccups the series has gone through. In fact watching this the game looks really interesting and I look forward to playing it come release.
Hiccups are when things are usually good and there’s a few recent mistakes not like with Sonic when things are usually bad. Nintendo knows how to make a good trailer, but watch it more times. It’s the same area, except for the bonus stages, as the original gameplay reveal. He is in an empty world with no real destination and they did their best to make cool action shots despite that

@@minabotieso6944 It looks good nonetheless. They show the first are out of 4/7 islands that are just about if not a bigger size than the island they’re currently showing. Everything they’ve shown is basically the first 4 hours of the game. “No real destination” is basically what an open world game is if you’ve ever played one, you’ve gotta find what the destination is on your own.

@@user-tk5gg6dr5o He has no real destination primarily because it looks like a test world with random stuff floatkng everywhere and that it is totally empty. In Botw there’s almost never a time where there’s no cool building or landmass in the distance to go explore. Sonic is all about running as quickly as possible to the finish line and it will be hard to reinvent Sonic with no finish line.
Okay now we've seen more of it, I am cautiously optimistic. Sega's marketing of this game thus far made me think it was going to be another flop for the Sonic franchise but now it looks, dare I say, good! Don't want to get my hopes up too much because its Sonic and there's always a few bad ones for every decent one when it comes to this series but I will definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

@@majorfanboy2005 Sonic has been cursed with bad games from 2005 to now, (with the exception of Generations and Unleashed) so it reasonable to see why this person is cautiously optimistic about Frontiers.
Edit: let me reiterate, I chose 2005 as the starting year for the sonic franchise going downhill in terms of games because 2005 is when Shadow the hedgehog released, and from that point onward MOST sonic games have been awful. Not to say however all sonic games after 2005 were bad, there are some good sonic games which released from 2005 to now.
No one cares if you want to be cautiously optimistic. Either buy the game or don’t, god damn.
@@Josh-iz5kb It means that even though we (as in, the "cautiously optimistic folk", ig) are pretty intruiged by some aspects of the game, we're still concerned due to others, like the lacking performance and aesthetics, empty looking over world and the fact Sonic Team hasn't delivered an honest to god good mainline game in the series for more than 10 years now.
And after the waste of time and money Forces, a game that I and many others were really hyped for *half a decade ago* was in almost every single way, I believe at least a bit of caution is 100% justified. Especially since Frontiers helms the same director as that game.
I'm actually more excited for this than any other game this year

Something to take note of is that the cyberspace levels seem like they’re more open and have multiple pathways. One of my biggest concerns was that the cyberspace levels were just gonna be super linear short levels like forces levels but they look pretty interesting here.
EDIT: Yeah so this aged like milk. The new chemical plant cyberspace gameplay looks like it’s just copying sonic generations’ chemical plant 1:1 but removing all of the platforming and making it super linear. Thanks, SEGA.

Look at around 0:50, I noticed that there was multiple pathways & a shortcut Sonic could go through here when he got to the ramp, and for the green hill level at 0:52, the platforms are more wide and aren't super restricting like Lost Valley from Forces for example. While I wish the levels weren't reused from old games, I'm glad they're at least not gonna be super linear like Forces.

I'm pretty optimistic and hyped for Sonic frontiers, as everything in this trailer looks good so far, especially the cyberspace levels, as they look SICK! This game is definitely going to be my favorite game of 2022 for sure.

I was honestly expecting *a lot* worse for the Switch Port. I was almost certain it was gonna be a Cloud Version... Sure it's downgraded in many regards graphically- but heck, Sega made this huge game work Natively! I'm impressed! They've been steadily increasing my interest for Frontiers after that initial game reveal flop.

Yeah, in a recent interview, they said that they'll be releasing select soundtracks onto the KRplus channel (similar to Forces and Team Racing). Hopefully they start releasing soon!

Ok, I'm hooked because of the scenes Sonic is fighting in. IT LOOKS AWESOME! The zones look AMAZING and there's more context on what we'll mainly have to do instead of walking around and solving random puzzles. Can't wait for this game to finally come out

In 1:10 minute Nintendo did a far better marketing for Sonic Frontiers than Sega until now:
-Explained the gameplay loop;
-Basic story summary;
-Dynamic music for fight sequences;
-our first preview of the elusive Cyberspace Levels;
-At least one of said Cyberspace Levels seems original;
-Glimpse of new character/possible main antagonist of the game;
-Played a little bit of the instrumental of the new main music theme;
-Animations look more fluid than in the previous IGN and TGS builds;
-The boost has a new "sonic boom" visual effect;
-The Cyloop animation now has Sonic with a glowing outline when he uses it;
-Glimpse of a new kind of attack for Sonic in combat mode.

Let’s hope that this game will be good! The Cyberspace levels look so cool, especially that one city looking level! I also hope that the game will actually have a lot of CGI cutscenes during the story! We’ll just have to wait and see but so far, I’m excited!

It’s not a cloud version as the trailer uses the actual switch version (you can tell because the graphics are clearly downgraded) so that means they optimized the game for switch instead of making a cloud version

For some reason, I feel like since the antagonist of this game isn't confirmed to be Eggman, I feel like if it isn't Eggman, the antagonist might be trying to control people and turn them evil, but THEY are the one being controlled.
I hope they make Sonic like he was in the 2000s once again.

looks good but if you have any other options to buy the game, if you have a good pc, xbox or playstation, choose it on any of those cuz switch might be able to make it look as good, but it will run horribly

I'm expecting the game to look like this on the Switch, if does, hey that's great; but unless I see some live footage of it being ran on Switch, I'm expectations low. I'm honestly more interested in what the storyline will be like, since it's be written by the man who's writing the new Sonic comics; which are quite fantastic.
