Time travel is a blight on most stories, and people wanted to see the story of how we got to the post apocalyptic horror world of Breath of the Wild. You can talk in circles and make excuses all you want, and if you enjoy the game, good for you. Nothing will change the fact that this is not why people wanted to buy AoC. Do you think this game would have done so well if rhe advertisement was upfront and said "Explore this new timeline in Breath of the Wild with the Egg time traveler"?

I feel the same about it. I really like the gameplay and story, but am just sad that Nintendo advertised the game as if it was a genuine prequel.

I really liked this game, but only a few things bothered me.
SPOILERS!!
- They didn't really show why some scenes were different in Age of Calamity compared to Breath of the Wild because of the Little One joining them. Other than monsters and the Yiga Clan initially being more aggressive because of the corruption entering along with it, and the huge twist in Chapter 5, the Little One shouldn't have affected the plot events as much as it seemed to.
-For example, we see Zelda praying at the Shrine of Courage with Link AND Impa there in Age of Calamity, but in BotW, Impa's barely with Zelda at all, and for sure not accompanying her in her training. Maybe if they had the king mention that monsters were being more aggressive and assigned Impa to join, it would have closed that loophole, but they didn't bother to.
- It was also weird that Calamity Ganon showed up way earlier than in BotW; he shows up after Zelda goes to the Shrine of Wisdom in the evening, but in AoC, he shows up before they've even set off in the morning/afternoon. Them knowing he'd show up on her birthday also should have made more of an impact on the timeline, but they didn't seem to do anything with that information.
- Zelda's treatment of Link was also really different too. I would have liked to have the scene where Zelda gets chased down by the Yiga Clan because she tried to ditch Link, but he comes to save her, implying that he followed her orders to leave her alone but was still following his role as her bodyguard. That was a huge turning-point in her impressions of him in BotW, but you don't really get that in AoC.
- BotW also has a part in Zelda's diary where she talks with Link about why he barely speaks. It was super meaningful to show how they're connected and carrying a heavy burden, which Zelda openly suffers from but Link silently suffers from. It would have been really nice to see this in one of the many cutscenes in AoC.
Aside from this though, the game is a great addition to the LoZ library and def worth purchasing or at least watching an LP of to experience!

@@TheGoldenDunsparce you wanted to see BotW stuff in AoC, that is your mistake. It is made clear that Torrako's presence accelerated and altered the events.
In BotW the Sheika towers never went online until 100 years after the Calamity, in AoC the towers went up during the first attack.
Since everything was going so great thanks to those abilities, Link and Zelda didn't had the problems described in BotW.
Its an entire new timeline which is why the present in AoC is so different from the past in BotW.

I never a fan of warrior game, but man o man, this game was great and amazing. The story, the gameplay and the music was so good. Make me wonder should i olay the previous hyrule warrior? Or fire emblem warrior?

I love this game but if Nintendo keeps making these timeline splits then the zelda time line will be way too confusing

They know fine well what Breath of the Wild players will expect from "Hyrule's *Last* stand"
And don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this game. Even came to like the story for what it is, but I'd be lying if I said I still wasn't disappointed we didn't get the story we were promised.

Nothing really happened at the game awards for any company. The only one that revealed new games was Microsoft, but didnt really show off nothing.

That trailer was legendary. Even Claude’s VA from 3H made fun of it.

The game released _more than two months ago_ and I was just playfully expressing desire for DLC. _You_ calm down.

@JB dude, its not a fanfic if the creators made it that's why there's a "fan" in the word. Also, it is marketed as a prequel especially with the "last stand" tag. If it says "what happens if" then I'll believe you.

@JB I say its fanfic cos its akin to a fanfic, its my criticism. And so what if I did, no one expected (or in my case, wants) this game but here it is, and my thought since Ninty already made a game (during the war) that just guarantee them to not make another Zelda game during the war. I'm dissapointed that they made another Hyrule Warrior with BoTW's prequel-setting as its synopsis.

@JB I wish more would share the same criticism as mine, especially with why I think its akin to a fanfic. I mean, my man come on, most people who haven't played the game weren't expecting the ending, hence why I also criticize the marketing. But s' a'ight, let's agree to disagree.

@JB $60 or not, I'm dissapointed not (just) because of the price. Oh did they show any time travel on the trailer besides the little guardian? I might have to see it again but I expect they'd explain that a little more as the game goes on but nope. And they could've put some hints during marketing, some tease,"how the story really went" or "you don't know what really happened" or something similar. Because again, everyone, even I, was assuming the guardian pilots would die just like in BoTW, sad but that's how it ends. Now they're marketting it like this game is exactly how it happens which is wrong, otherwise BoTW is either a "what if" game or a different universe to Age of Calamity.
