@@Averagejon95 Expect similar results to the Witcher 3 ports. Less detail, more pop-in. But smooth enough running at 30fps (720P in handheld)

Astral Chain looks as good as Nier (maybe a little less but I only hope platinum worked a bit in this port)

According to square this game runs at 1080p 30fps docked and 720p 30fps handheld plus this comes with a physical release

Some retailer leaked this in 2019 i believe? Either way i cant wait!

@@knuclear200x For me originally got it for ps4, then I bought it on Steam for mods, and as for Switch I want to see how it plays since both platforms at the time had issues that I think was fixed on Xbox but had no interest in buying an Xbox or ps5.

@@heliart6155 Apparently the file sizes according to them. Doesn't help cases that 2.8 also has the 0.2 A Fragmentary Passage demo which was basically put on there to demonstrate KH3's technical improvements

Agreed. When I’m talking to people about games that “really make you think” this is my number 1. Everything about the setting and the story, it’s heart wrenching and sad and it makes for an amazing story

I played this game for the first time at the height of the pandemic. I haven't stopped thinking about what it all meant and what our lives are all about since then. This was a very special game.

idk man, i dont think i can enjoy any platinum title on 30 fps, astral chain was honestly great but even after more than 20 hours of gameplay i still wish i couldve played it in 60fps instead

@@Kougeru there'll probably most likely be some form of resolution scaling to help keep it stable, likely FSR or something

Ngl i thought it wouldn't happen also, but ever since astral chain showed that one of their creators was from nier automata, i simply couldn't give up

This isn't a very graphically intensive game, why should a port be impossible?

Ditto, Switch players should get to enjoy the full Nier experience. I just wish Sqaure would let Taro remaster the Drakengard trilogy since after all Nier is directly connected to one of the first games endings.

@@BloodRedFox2008 I really hope they get to bring those games back too some day! I've been wanting to try Drakengard ever since playing NieR, but mainly held out in hopes Square would give them a proper remaster. Sort of like what Replicant got.

@Kiibo They are talking about the Remake, which is at least as demanding as Nier Automata.

@Kiibo Automata is also no Open World Game, it is classical hub based with separated areas and loading zones.
I don’t see Automata being significantly more demanding than the remake of the OG Nier. Combat might be a bit faster while the OG Nier has areas with more enemies at the same time. I see them on par regarding possible performance issues.

Honestly they should have ported the first game first, people playing Automata before it are not going to have any appreciation for Emil or his role in the story

The bards kept it alive throughout the eons, it's a catchy number regardless.

I would say ‘hope you enjoy it’ but I know you will :) A word of advice - do every single side-quest. There isn’t some kind of special ending if you do them all, but there are some amazing stories in those quests, even the generic ones!

Play through it 3 times, first credit roll is only and end to a part. Story is done after third playthrough.

While song of the ancients isnt technically found in this game, the music is still very much on par or better.

@@user-Jay178 I'd get a physical copy. Just because it's an RPG and it's on the Switch. It will probably go up in price someday for that reason alone. And the full game is on the cartridge so that's also a plus.

@@loope9421 i am not judging, i am only stating the obvious (maybe with a hint of irony) that it was not the game that saved you.. it was YOU. The game is only some meaningless creation that You have put a made up "value" on.. take the credit and believe a bit more in your self. If you do, the next time you are feeling that depression creeping up again you will be a LOT more prepared on how to handle it. I do speak from experience.

It's gonna run like crap on the switch. I suggest you play it on ps4 Xbox or pc. Platinum games is known for making games at 60 fps. The switch will throttle at 20 fps

@@chaikagaz not really Bayonetta 1 and 2 run very well on the switch. This game will run well, plus I rather play this game on the switch.

@@mr.leroysmith7012 I think it did, it will say on your profile which endings you got. A-Z a bunch are joke endings like just eating a Mackerel but endings A-E are for actually completion.

@@mr.leroysmith7012 So once you beat the game for the first time, you load the file and play the game again as the other main character. It is the same story, but offers a different perspective and new information to what is really going on. It is pretty quick as you keep your levels and you gain a new ability making boss fights pretty quick. It is also a good way to deal with challenges that were too difficult on the 1st run like bonus bosses. Once you are finished, you load the game again and it switches back to the first main character, but continues the story to the next part of the game. From there, there are two more endings, but they are right next to each other so you can easily reload your save and see the other one. Once you have completed all of the endings, you can unlock the final ending. It is an odd style, but it worked out alright.

if you really like automata, then please play replicant. it's easily my second favorite game, right behind automata. it's not really the main focus, but the gameplay isn't as good. nothing special, but it IS still fun. weiss, which is like pod, has a bunch of magic abilities that you can use instead of just mindlessly shooting out lasers or wait for it to charge up a powerful one like in automata. side quests suck as they're mostly just fetch quests. the narrative is much better tho so i highly recommend playing it. i can't say much without spoiling it so all i'll say is don't stop playing the game until you've gotten all endings. like automata, you'll prolly think you've beaten the game but there's 5 endings. it took me a while to realize that which is why i'm telling you this. the characters are very well written too and i personally like them more than most of the ones in automata. it's on ps, xbox, and steam. it's a shame how underrated replicant is

According to Nintendo Life this port is handled by Virtuos, who are well known for porting Bioshock Collection, L.A. Noire, Dark Souls, Dying Light and The Outer Worlds. Glad Square Enix got an experienced team to handle this port even though Square Enix has worked with Virtuos in the past

I'm a 1 console per generation type of guy and Nintendo has always been my go to but I did wish to play games like this 1 day and now it is finally here.

The public perception of the Switch's power is so strangely polarising. Some people think it's too weak to run Xbox 360 games, others think it's powerful enough to last until 2027.
I think the first view comes from people that don't own a Switch, whereas the second view comes from people that only own a Switch.

2027 may come from the recent claim by a Nintendo exec that the switch was about halfway through its projected lifespan.

To call this game "art" is an understatement.
It's transcendent, and will permanently change your ideas of what can be accomplished and experienced exclusively through video games.

It's a phenomenal game and such a unique and moving experience. If ever there was a game I could forget, so I could experience it's again for the first time it would be this one :)

Indeed. Maybe it’s just because it’s already 5+ years old but they had less bombast than I expected for the announcement lol.
Though perhaps they did that on purpose so as not to spoil things? For a 5 year old game they definitely held back on the spoiler shots.

They can square enix probably too lazy or feels it's too expensive

Even though Kingdom Hearts ( which isn't my type of game ) looks cartoonish, it's a much more graphic intensive game than Nier.

It probably helps that this runs on Platinum Games in-house tech... The same in-house tech that gave us stuff like Astral Chain and powering Bayo 3. It is more suited to Switch development vs whatever engine was used for Kingdoms of hearts.
