Mario Strikers: Battle League - Strike of the Week #3 - Nintendo Switch

Heck switch sports has 4v4 soccer and that works with 8 players online. And soccer isnt even its only sport while mario strikers is only soccer and has this club thing yet 4 club members cant even play together.

Technically, Splatoon 2 can handle up to 10 players online, if you manage to get a full private lobby plus two spectator slots, so yeah, they CAN do it for sure. But they refuse to... For some dumb reason, not like Nintendo's servers aren't the greatest out there.

Yeah it was a feature that should’ve been in at the start so I’m confused tbh.

Tbf the p2p netcode of splatoon hardly can manage it and only has 16 tick rate its really far drom being decent. Nintendo finally must invest in real servers for some of their games or should atleast give those games decent singleplayer content.

No 4v4 online is actually preventing me from buying this game. They advertised it like it was in the game, but it just isn’t

I’m having a blast with this game because the gameplay is very enjoyable to me. For me, I care less about the amount of content when I really enjoy the core gameplay. But then again, I only paid $16 for this game so maybe that has something to do with it. Lol

lack of content isnt an issue, if the price is right. but even with additional content, 60$ are simply way too much for this type of game.

I was lucky and bought the game for 40dollars. And still think its a lot of fun and if your playing with friends its a blast. So if more FREE content is added it can rly help the game improove in game life in my opinion

I bought it yesterday I thought that’s how much it should have been there’s not much todo in it if it have ton of characters and stadiums to unlock and story mode maybe some extra modes like mini games I would say this game was so worth 60 dollars

I'm aware Strikers and Smash play differently lol, all I'm saying is that the base games are like night and day in regards to actual content despite being designed for multiplayer play (if anything, the less varied gameplay of Strikers should allow for more than Smash). A game simply having online doesn't necessarily mean better replay value for a lot of people, especially when that game is sixty dollars

Nintendo didnt make this game. They forced the people who did to release it before it was done.

Buy the game when you think it's "finished" instead of screeching to Nintendo to release it later. Some of us are willing to wait for more content and play a more bare-bones experience instead of nothing.

@@TheDman182 I mean, Charged lasted 15 years, and the majority of the roster is arbitrarily locked behind "captain" roles, and most teams are comprised of the same 8 generic mooks. Even less when you factor in how broken some of them are because the game had garbage balancing.

@@firstnamelastnamesb I was 15 lol. I had to do some math on that one. But 4 were locked behind the unlocking wall. I actually played it again recently and still enjoy it. Has a good amount of unique stages which in IMO battle league suffers. Had character challenges, and a bunch of cups to earn. Good amount of difficulty.
Don’t get me wrong if you like battle league I’m happy for you. I’m just struggling with the amount of money I paid for the content available.

It actually has a lot. Ultimately, it was the gameplay, presentation, personality, and style that kept people coming back to Strikers. Aside from its roster and stadiums, those games didn't have much to offer in the way of singleplayer. And Battle League still excels in it's gameplay presentation, animation, and style. Content doesn't necessarily equate to longevity.

It really doesn't, tho.
It has a bigger roster, but BL has better single player and online multiplayer. Twice as many tourneys and good netcode vs choppy netcode, broken and unbalanced characters, and a roster of 20 characters that's arbitrarily locked and you're only allowed to pick 1 actual character and the rest of your team has to be 3 of only 8 generic mooks.

In addition to the tourney in the original, which ironically feels more like a league, you also had challenge stages with unique wincons and also way more arenas, plus unlockable gameplay modifiers
What does this REALLY have? Because it having "better multiplayer" (despite us not even being able to have online 4v4) won't matter if the game is dead

@@firstnamelastnamesb I disagree with BL having a better single player experience. There are no unlockables besides gear to work towards, which are the same across all characters and are, in my opinion, a chore to grind for. I am not going to argue against the fact that BL has better online functionality and visuals because it truly does. But I am a person who does not like too many online games and will always opt for offline if the option is there. So look at it from my point of view: if I want to play offline the only thing I have to work with is 10 characters (instead of 20 like Charged), 5 unispired stadiums all with grass themes (instead of 17 more creative stadiums), a single player cup-based campaign that only lasted me two days, and a coin system that only gives me 10 COINS PER GAME to upgrade gear with. I'm not saying Battle League is a bad game by any means, but as a person who does not like online, the game is seriously lacking. For perspective, Smash Ultimate LAUNCHED with 7X the characters and 20X the stages than BL but they both cost the same amount...

All of these ads have been planned out ages ago. Tbh Nintendo has most likely already forgotten all about this game by now. The game will have the preplanned small updates like Mario golf to make it feel like they care.

I'm assuming they're gonna announce something in the next Nintendo Direct (should be this month) but hopefully it's more than just 1 character.

The game has only been out for a week.

They're not coming out until till the end of 2023. So I'll say till October to November. Which is dumb.
