Age of Calamity definitely had a good story, but I feel like Xenoblade had the much better story, even being a huge Zelda fan.

@@KrullerAX exactly. It all depends on which one’s more popular. Xenoblade has one of the best stories in anything, ever.
I fell like Nintendo just doesn’t care about Xenoblade as a franchise enough. It’s not advertised anywhere near as it should be considering how good the games are.
Though the music to me was... wow! I was literally like for the super soundtrack award, “If you don’t choose Age of Calamity I will throw this freakin phone out the window!” Seems dramatic, but that just me.
This is basically “Nintendo only” Game Awards, and this was something I enjoyed
and no last of us 2 bias to ruin it.
Sad no pikmin though but at least we got more Nintendo stuff.

That and wouldn't be anything else since it is Nintendo Power, their official gaming magazine that's existed since the 80's...it's literally just Nintendo games exclusively so no worries of any bs woke games stealing the show here.😎

Good to see that Bobby almost won over Mario with a 1% difference, he was such a well written character, I really hope to see more characters like that on future Mario games!

There's a pretty clear Nintendo bias in the fan votes here which is fine, but I HIGHLY doubt that Age of Calamity has a better story than Hades or Xenoblade, which are both master classes in storytelling.
I agree with xenobalde, but I really don't think Hades has a legit story.
Yep..I preferZelda over both of them but the fact that an old story with just added spices won over an original story is kind of funny and unreal lol

Bobby is something mario fan didn't experience before. Nintendo NEVER kills off a character that has a great impact to the story. He's role is very simple in every mario game, but Nintendo decided to make what they usually do, to a sacrifice. I mean ofcause Mario deserves it, I just want to appreciate that Nintendo put such an amazing element to Mario's adventure.
i also love how his death set up the scene where Olivia mistakes the other bob ombs for bobby, and they say they just want to make an impact. And then you shoot a ton of bob ombs at a ship. Pretty dark stuff…

@@Chaos_867 Baby Luna bearly talks to you, so it doesn't bring as much emotions as Bobby. He is like a friend, but baby Luna, the fuld pack, feels more like a tool. So their death is not as emotional as bobby

Age of Calamity winning Super Soundtrack and What a Story! is what I needed to hear.
I heavily disagree on the story one. Even though Zelda is my favorite video game series by far, Xenoblade deserved that one.
And soundtrack too, look I like ACNH but the sound track is not as good as old ones
A huge Zelda nerd too here and have never seen or played or even heard of the gameplay of a Xenoblade game but from what I heard from the fans and from my experience with HW:AOC..Xenoblade deserves it more even thou I don’t know it lol

It’s not too overly anime or anything, it’s just a really fun game with a really great story and characters and an interesting battle system that’s sort of like a real time RPG deal. I know it looks kinda intimidating to get into, but it really isn’t. The hours will sail by.

@@user-ti6us2br4x Battle system is more akin to Dragon Age Origins, kind of MMO-esque but singleplayer. It has some cool mechanics that spice it up.
Xenoblade 2 is actually really good. It's a bit slower to start and the battle system takes time to really come into its own but once it gets going it's got a lot going for it, even beats the original in certain ways. But it does have more comedy in it so that's going to be a pretty subjective element. The standalone expansion story for 2, Torna the Golden Country, is really polished though and kinda smooths a lot of 2's rough edges and has a more balanced tone.
Both games are great, even if 1 is now pretty conclusively the better game with Definitive Edition smoothing out rough edges and adding some quality extra content.
Recently picked up 3D All Stars for the Nintendo Switch and I'm gonna play the living spirits out of all three titles

Xenoblade is my favorite Nintendo game period. Kinda disappointed it didn’t get best story.

@@epicboyo4883 I mean, it kinda did. No shame to those who liked the game, but to me $60 for 3 pretty easily emulatable games that mostly control like garbage on the switch (ironically, I think sunshine is the best controlling game in the pack) isn’t worth it, especially a limited release.

Xenoblade not winning story is pretty sad, but not even being nominated for soundtrack? That's an outright travesty, it has one of the top ten best soundtracks of the last ten years much less just this one.

I heard its real good.
Wanted to get it on Switch, but sadly seeing how with regional pricing (I'm Rus) Hades costs 6 bucks without any sales on Steam compared to 25 usd on E-Shop, I'd pass. I don't want to pay extra 20 bucks for an abbility to play it in my bed or somesuch.
I think the last campfire 🔥 is very under appreciated it was amazing
The nintendo power cast (n64 josh) needs to be more recognized, they are on episode 300, and they have a very small community, but it is a great one. Go show those guys some love for me!!

The structure of this was much better than the game awards, because you actually spend time talking about each category and the games in it. There's a pretty clear Nintendo bias in the voting but I mean what did I expect 🤷

What a story is absolutely rigged. Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity was really good, but THERE IS NO WAY THAT IT BEATS XENOBLADE DEFINITIVE EDITION! XENOBLADE IS ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL AND TO SAY THAT AGE OF CALAMITY BEATS IT IS A CRIME IN ITSELF!!!

I have never played the game before but could somebody explain why Hyrule Warriors won the intense action? I mean, from what I have seen all you do is just slay a bunch of enemies and like they said in the podcast, you are super powerful. But I have not played the game so could somebody explain

Animal crossing doesn’t really count as multiplayer. You can just visit but not really play or progress together :(
It's sad that even Nintendo itself knows that Bobby is just a regular enemy...
as much as i think the rule about keeping characters generic is absurdly limiting, i think the fact that Bobby looks like any another bob-omb kinda fits in this scenario. They arent meant to have a long or distinguished life or appearance, but its the memories he has with Mario that make him an individual.
@@spoon7053 Actually, I quite agree with you about making Bobby look a little more generic, but at the same time it would have been better to point to details that are not related to his physical appearance: for example, imagine if Bobby would have had some sort of number next to its fuse, and which only later it would be discovered to be a "Serial Number", since it's a factory Bob-omb anyway. In this way, it would have solved the question that many people ask themselves (Why in the old Paper Mario the partner-unique Bob-Ombs exploded and came back to life, compared to the "common" ones), and it would have made the character slightly more unique.

Just anyone I know praises Hades acoss all the platforms and hearing "Ewwwwh ahahah Hades?" when podcaster annaunced the goty nomineees feelt rather disrespectful.
It was obvious Animal Crossing would win even if you don't know who was nominated, but that reaction was rather yikes regardless.
