Returning to Mr Lee's Seongu Barbershop in Seoul, South Korea was a delight as I was in for another delicately relaxing haircut experience. Known as one of the oldest barbershops in the country, Seongu Barbershop has a rich history and a reputation for its exceptional service.
Located at 4-1 Hyochangwon-ro 97-gil, Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, Seongu Barbershop offers a tranquil environment where traditional barbering techniques are practiced with utmost precision and care.
As I settled into the barber chair, I could feel the nostalgic atmosphere of the barbershop. The vintage decor and the skilled barbers created an ambiance that harkened back to a bygone era. It was a wonderful blend of tradition and relaxation.
The barber began the haircut with meticulous attention to detail, carefully shaping my hair according to my preferences. Every snip of the scissors and stroke of the comb was executed with precision and expertise. The soothing sound of the shears, combined with the gentle touch of the barber's hands, created a serene environment that put me at ease.

The old barbershop's roof came down, but since that place is a national historic heritage, as it was the first barbershop to be allowed to operate during the Japanese occupation, the government rebuilt and improved the place.

What a contrast to see Mr Lee's , somewhat, "space-age"-looking "workshop" to that of his original shop which, to be fair, looked like it would collapse if you slammed the door accidently. Always a pleasure to see him at work and thank you Nomad Barber for uploading this.👍

Love Mr. Lee. A relaxing haircut video from a barber who actually cuts hair and does it well. Instead of these guys who just click scissors and call it ASMR to get views but they actually cut little if any hair. You know who I'm talking about😉

A hurricane is what modernized it. Badly damaged in a storm, his shop had to be rebuilt.

Happy to see the place getting the repairs and modernisation it well deserved. The old look had its charm, however i feared that it might get damages in case of very bad weather, or other bad stuff i'd rather not think about. Here's to hoping it will stand tall and proud for many years to come!
