Heard any Billie Eilish? I'd recommend "When we all fall asleep, where do we go?" era. Wet Leg are really good too, but maybe not your thing. Happy listening!
These are simply Soul-ish arrangements of her music, which is why I think it's so good stripped down like this, highlighting the melodies and vocals with effective but minimal instrumentation. Yeah, she does know how to put on a Pop performance, but she's pretty similar to Christina Aguilera (not as powerful / as much range), but she's got that vibe and talent. I think she should just go work on an entire Soul album and reach a entirely new and wider audience. She's clearly capable of delivering in that space.
@@mrclean111111 yeah the whole setting seems like it's a basement rehearsal but actually it's all top produced, everyone has in ear monitors and of course it's not the tape doing the backing track... and thanks also to that all sounds perfect.
I was never into pop music until I heard Dua blend it with disco. I'm sure she's not the first, just the first I've heard, and i love it. This is what a 10/10 performance looks like. It doesn't need to be a huge, flashy production. Just a well organized group genuinely loving what they do. Her dancing isn't performative, just her grooving to tunes that she enjoys hearing, and by the way she smiles and giggles throughout the whole thing you can tell she loves singing them too. This felt very intimate, like something you might see at a dive bar while everyone is sitting back having drinks, and I absolutely loved it.
As a not-so-fan I'm sorta surprised by how better her songs sound with that minimalistic arrangement. It enhances that disco-ish chic pretty drastically. Adorable!

since first time I heard her song "New love", some years ago, and I heard her speaking during an interview, I knew she was going to become an absolute worldwide HIT.
There's hardly any one hit wonders anymore with how the music world works these days as far as they completelystop making music after 1 album, most all keep making music that at least some people like. It just doesn't get mainstream recognition. For example I had no idea until like last year or so that Carly Rae jepsen is still making music, yeah the Call me Maybe Girl. And her album Emotion is pretty good, especially the title track. But Dua Lipa is coming up even more in popularity so yeah she's definitely not a one hit wonder even as far as actual mainstream hits go. But like i said, no one is, really.
Not enough is talked about how the bassist is probably the best in the industry right now. If you listen to all of her new tracks he is front and center on every grove. Its insane his writing ability.
@@tonykent4216 This makes SO much sense now! My wife and I were listening to her yesterday on the radio and I mentioned how I'm normally not a huge Pop music fan, but something about the music and groove made me love it. No disrespect to Dua, she is an awesome singer and performer, but you're right. That bass is NAAAAASSSSTTTTYYY.
Best thing about Tiny Desk Concerts: being wowed by pop artists who can *actually sing*. Dua Lipa deserves all the success and acclaim, and her BAND is top notch.
Everything about this is so pro. She’s great, of course, but those background singers and musicians all showed up to do work and nailed it. Instant classic.
They are called "session players" and they are the hired guns of the music industry. Incredibly talented, rifle bolt precision. That's all Dua ever uses.
The fact that she chose to do it at a studio saddens me. It’s a (home) concert. I thought a stripped back and vulnerable feel is the goal?? Maybe I’m missing something
@@MegaGood5 umm hmm I think you're just in your sleep till now, look at the world sweetie they'll let you know that the BTS wil win the Oscars! Go and ask the army
I often thought cheap instruments and the popular radio explosion in America in the 30s 40s created an amazing generation of musicians. Musicians who heard the very best playing on the radio then tried to be as good. I feel this your tube generation are doing something similar, they see the best and then reach for it. I sometimes think you have to go back to the era of Dusty Springfield, Diana Ross or Ella Fitzgerald to get a vocalist as good as this girl.
Thought exactly the same.I am a professional classical, and jazz musician for 51 years.I hate all that boring rap trash. But this is really, really classy!!!!Could be the Barbra Streisand of the 21st century!
I always feel that people base the state of music purely on the pop artists we see and hear. Based on that, I could agree with people being disappointed and surprised when something nice comes along. But there are soooo many young qualified artists around doing absolutely great things. It's not that rare, if you ask me :) Just look at the countless Tiny Desk videos. So many talented young musicians to find there. In comparison, Dua Lipa seems rather tame, even (although I did think this was catchy and nice!). Long story short: it's really not that hard to find great young artists (y)
I don't know what it is but i keep coming back to this. Dua Lipa is so elegant, i can't pinpoint it but that's what i am feeling when watching this. I can feel the elegance.
It is not fair. I am an old grumpy metal guy, and here I am dancing like a teenager in my kitchen with this video on repeat. This music is a pure ray of sunshine.
Dua Lipa deserves all the credit. Her songs are kickin’ it since her debut. It’s hard to think of an artist that in a span of 4 short years have 20+ hits.
tea. we got a killer album with no filler that contained several worldwide hits with fantastic videos, excellent performances, a full club remix album and a dynamite concert special. she ruled pop from january to december.
These 70s vibes are everything, I am SO in love. Dua Lipa is the future, her voice is amazing as well as her stage presence. Literally a queen. So many good vibes!!

i was looking for this haha
Thank you!
thanks
☻
its been 3 months lol
I love how her back up singers are jamming out as well. Its all so asthetically pleasing!
Yep! Can tell everyone is feeling it. And I like that they are a wide range of ages. Everyone likes good music.
perfection.
How can a heart not beat at full speed if it hears a goddess sing.!!
her confidence is EVERYTHING
Trueee
When you look and sound like her what's not to be confident about
She's having fun and it resonates. I recently became a fan realizing she's not just a one hit wonder pop star....I dig it....
she is also a lyricist:-)
There's hardly any one hit wonders anymore with how the music world works these days as far as they completelystop making music after 1 album, most all keep making music that at least some people like. It just doesn't get mainstream recognition. For example I had no idea until like last year or so that Carly Rae jepsen is still making music, yeah the Call me Maybe Girl. And her album Emotion is pretty good, especially the title track.
But Dua Lipa is coming up even more in popularity so yeah she's definitely not a one hit wonder even as far as actual mainstream hits go. But like i said, no one is, really.
Carly Rae actually has had some recent mainstream hits and her music is still solid
Definitely not a one hit wonder lol, she has more hits than anyone current, she's a hit making machine, she's amazing
Absolutely!! I actually fell in love from her first single some years ago. She’s so lovely.
Dua Lipa's melodies are always insanely catchy.
It's really awesome to see how much she clearly loves performing. Fantastic set!!
She's so good even her laugh is on key .
Facts!
Her laugh, her smile, they way she moves....

omg! this! right?! ❤️
Yessss 😢😅😂😊
Give that bassist and guitarist some credit. When there are no pads and keys to hide behind, they are still killing their parts.
The groove was TIGHT!
Not enough is talked about how the bassist is probably the best in the industry right now. If you listen to all of her new tracks he is front and center on every grove. Its insane his writing ability.
@@tonykent4216 right???? the best thing in that whole record is definitely the bass
definitely pros for sure
@@tonykent4216 This makes SO much sense now! My wife and I were listening to her yesterday on the radio and I mentioned how I'm normally not a huge Pop music fan, but something about the music and groove made me love it. No disrespect to Dua, she is an awesome singer and performer, but you're right. That bass is NAAAAASSSSTTTTYYY.
Es un concierto particular, la verdad se disfruta mucho, GRAN artista Dua Lipa.
As good as Nirvana MTV live back in the day. Fantastic talent between Dua and the others. Wow!
Hello! I’m a small singer, could you spare some time to check out my account? It would make my day 🦋
@@solstice618 which song of yours is your favorite
@@tehnomsthewalrus hotel California- eagles. I covered it on my channel
That pretty please cover gave me goose bumps. Her energy and leadership during it was awesome 🫶🏻💫
It isn't a cover
everything about this tiny desk concert is just perfect
I REALLY hope she wins at the Grammy's she deserves it honestly.
Bts will
Sadly it looks like Taylor will win them all 😢
@@MegaGood5 I think they’ll split.
@@MegaGood5 umm hmm I think you're just in your sleep till now, look at the world sweetie they'll let you know that the BTS wil win the Oscars! Go and ask the army
Brett Burton i think they’ll give aoty to folklore and pop album to future nostalgia. Roty should definitely be dont start now tho.
As a 53 year old professional musician it’s just such a breath of fresh air to see and hear these young qualified artists!
true
I often thought cheap instruments and the popular radio explosion in America in the 30s 40s created an amazing generation of musicians. Musicians who heard the very best playing on the radio then tried to be as good.
I feel this your tube generation are doing something similar, they see the best and then reach for it. I sometimes think you have to go back to the era of Dusty Springfield, Diana Ross or Ella Fitzgerald to get a vocalist as good as this girl.
you are not old
Thought exactly the same.I am a professional classical, and jazz musician for 51 years.I hate all that boring rap trash.
I used to enjoy Levitating when it came over the radio; but after this performance I am in love with the song and her vocals. Holy cow.
I don't know what it is but i keep coming back to this. Dua Lipa is so elegant, i can't pinpoint it but that's what i am feeling when watching this. I can feel the elegance.
it's the super crisp audio, warm colour scheme and I think the way that she is moving.
also I think that you can hear her breathing so clearly
It is not fair. I am an old grumpy metal guy, and here I am dancing like a teenager in my kitchen with this video on repeat. This music is a pure ray of sunshine.
hahahah yessss
:))))))))) yes
I do the same since last night. This music is sooo 😄
La diversidad musical que corre en estos tiempos es tremenda e insipiradora
No shame if you feel it just dance. Im 36 and was dancing on my birthday for like 20 hrs straight. Yes I was on some molly but it was fun though
Her voice is rich and the bass lines are so dope. Metalhead here too
Dua Lipa deserves all the credit. Her songs are kickin’ it since her debut. It’s hard to think of an artist that in a span of 4 short years have 20+ hits.
Taylor Swift?
@@alexandra_13. both queens
Katy Perry had 7 no. 1 hits 4 years into her career
Rihanna?
Ariana and Blackpink also
Assisti quando lançou e já voltei algumas vezes pra apreciar essa obra de arte, ela é boa demais
Super talented! Song writing, dancing, and singing! Plus she is pretty chill, no fake PR stuff, just pure talent! @dualipa
at this point she's honestly unstoppable (kudos to her team bc this whole future nostalgia era has been flawless)
tea. we got a killer album with no filler that contained several worldwide hits with fantastic videos, excellent performances, a full club remix album and a dynamite concert special. she ruled pop from january to december.
Future Nostalgia is THE album of 2020. Dua is killing the game. We love to see it 🕺🏻
To each their own. I love Future Nostalgia but my favorite album of the year is After Hours.
@@caracasmihai01 After Hours is brilliant, no denying that.

Future Nostalgia needs to be the AOTY at the Grammys. This album is too good.
a trapt or mumbbe rap album will win it doesnt matter how good this pop is
@@edwinelmore2082 It's between Folklore and Future Nostalgia , because they are both the best albums among nominated ones and this year in genral .
@@aditya_raina_ but it’s scammy . They probably will choose a random album .
