Dec. 11, 2017 | Sidney Madden -- Tyler, The Creator's Tiny Desk performance was a first for many reasons. It was the Los Angeles rapper's first time performing at our offices, but moreover, it was the Tiny Desk's first nighttime performance, a special request from Tyler and his team in order to professionally light the "stage" themselves. Members of Tyler's lighting crew came to the office a day before to set it up, eventually bathing him and his band in shades of fuchsia, orange and blue - one for each song - during the early evening show.
Flower Boy, Tyler's latest album, is much like this Tiny Desk performance; a surprising departure from the expected. Four albums in, he has matured as a producer, rapper and human being. Often equated to hip-hop's class clown, the 26-year-old peels back his own mask of immaturity to reveal a young adult grappling with anxiety, fear and uncertainty of self.
After he was done, Tyler did something of a modified mic-drop, throwing his tambourine in celebration of what he and his band had accomplished. Always one to stay casually connected with his fans, Tyler made time - nearly an hour after the performance was done -- to pose for photos, sign merch and crack jokes with (and on) everyone around him.
Set List
"Boredom"
"See You Again"
"Glitter"

the internet is truly a blessing
this is the video that got me into tyler, the creator. when i watched this the first time i was so pleasantly surprised by tyler, he just seems so cool, talented, and like a genuinely sweet guy. and with the way he's directing the band, improvising, riffing with the singers and the audience, he just radiates confidence and positivity. so epic

@@Luvkioo cute that you think I’m reading all that
@@Luvkioo i did sir! Not a church goer or necessarily religious in the sense that most people think of. But i beleive in God with all my heart and prey and confess. I do go to church God created the earth and therefore im always in church. All water i drink is holy because God put it on the earth for me. I was also the same as a lot of these people and i beleived in more of the universe science and evolution. I beleived the universe is listening and ask and you will receive. These things became so much more powerful when i came to the conclusion that these things are God. It saddens me how against people are on this. But essentially they beleive in the same thing they beleive in earth and the energies of the universe, when that is god they just call it something different. The fact the he put the band on the spotlight ❤ a real sunshine
Best Tiny Desk I've heard so far. Tyler is just a ray of sunshine. I'm gonna talk about a few things that I'm guessing no one noticed because I didn't see any comments about them:
First off, I'm really fascinated by how the lighting changes for each set highlighting the fresh song and all the emotion that comes with it.
Also, Tyler said he's 35% Siberian at the end and from the start of the 'Call Me if You Get Lost' era till now, he's been rocking an ushanka (Siberian hat) with his outfits. Gotta love the attention to detail. Bro's been getting in touch with his roots all this time 😄
Whaaaaaaaaaaat I didn't know that hat came from there.
Here in Colombia at least on big cities we use it all the time
Well more like people who spend a lot of time on the street and people who like urban music but I didn't know it came from there.
Amazing

Also the lighting!!!! It kind of reminds me of moonlight and made the entire band look so beautiful in this surreal tiny desk concert.
wangzhou1234 yeah all dressed in white too so classy
"This song" lol. Which one?
I just wanna say that the keyboard player is the musical director, and USUALLY its the MD that arranges that kind of thing, although it could be different in Tylers case. Good music and lyrics tho, and hes a very good performer
He has some serious talent.
Are you giving him credit for the jazz band too ? Be realistic homie..
These ladies are angels, I'm convinced. Not once were they off key
yeah I think they were off a bit sometimes but it didn't matter I still liked it. I feel like sometimes singing a just teeny bit out of key adds more depth or realness to someones voice. Super good stuff

Tyler's skin is so god damn clear I can see my future
You can see your odd future
That’s kinda odd
skin glowing, clear of acne
When you live life as care free as this guy you wont be filled with stress and break out, theres lessons more than his lyrics can provide.
Because he minds his motherfuckin business
Tyler should revisit, so we can get a "Call me if you lost" and "Igor" mashup
They all blended so good together 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
