If you were to apply one of those "how it started / how it's going" memes to Tiny Desk (home) concerts - which began, it turns out, almost exactly one year ago - you'd have, under "how it's going," the image of pop superstar Justin Bieber as he and his band perform the world premiere of a new song called "Peaches."
"Peaches" will exist in a significantly different form when Bieber drops his new album Justice on Friday - the track will feature guest vocals from GIVEŌN and Daniel Caesar - just as "Holy," another song from Justice, opens this set without the presence of guest Chance the Rapper. But Bieber's Tiny Desk set, performed with the aid of We the Band, provides the fullest taste yet (fully 25 percent!) of the singer's sixth album, whose singles have already been streamed hundreds of millions of times.
Bieber has had a massive month as he prepares for Justice to drop: March 2021 began with the singer's 27th birthday and recently produced his second career Grammy, as he took the prize for best country duo or group performance for "10,000 Hours" with Dan + Shay. It continues with this, his Tiny Desk debut. Friday, the next chapter officially begins.

At 32, I just became a Justin Bieber fan.
I didn't realize how passionate he was. I hate how so many people hated him for no reason without even giving him a chance. I wasn't a hater, but i never cared to check out his music. I'm blown away because i didn't know he was so talented.

To be sure he was pretty garbage at first, he was just a pretty little boy the teenage girls fell for because of youtube. But. There's lots of artists like that and most fade away. Bieber has my respect because undeniably now he is a very talented musiciain and singer. He worked on that. If you go back and listen to his early youtube stuff he was mediocre at best at singing... So you have to respect he put in the grind. And now, here you have the result. This is clearly a good artist.

"Anyone" is SOOOO good here, omg. I'm so happy Justin came back around, I know he was in such a dark place for a while. I remember seeing him in concert and you could tell he wasn't into it at all. He was barely performing honestly. Now look at him! He is so into it, you can feel the passion and he's singing his heart out. It's great to see him happy and loving what he does again.
He just puts his all into every performance. His backing band is stellar as well.

I have nothing but respect for Justin Bieber and his talent as a musician. That being said, this performance is obviously auto tuned. However, pretty much every singer uses auto tune in some capacity. A lot of it is just pitch correction.

And again, I don’t know where you got that from, but truly most artists don’t use it, but of course there are few who do. Justin in the past hasn’t used pitch correct. He’s only been using it recently, but he’s not new to autotune or editing for live performances. For example, do you remember his viral cover of “Fast Car?” The entire video is edited. Not just for his pitch but they also added reverb/a voice layer. The original live version is somewhere on KRplus. I can link it if you can’t find it and want to watch it. My point is Justin is of course a good singer, but he is pretty pitchy for being so praised for his voice.

I know he’s done some really foolish things but after he apologized for it (in 2015), he hasn’t been nothing but an absolute miracle honestly. He’s gotten past his substance use, the immense pressure, and the grooming (yes, he was groomed). Thank you for giving him a chance. I believe he’s going independent, that’s what I heard. So he’ll be able to write more without label pressure!
