We've been trying to make a BTS Tiny Desk concert happen for years now - even gaming out ways we might move Bob Boilen's desk far enough forward to accommodate the superstar Korean boy band's dance moves.
In the end, it took a global pandemic - and the launch of Tiny Desk (home) concerts back in March - to make something happen. With BTS cooped up in Seoul, the group held true to the series's spirit by convening a live band for its Tiny Desk debut, and even arranged to perform in a workspace with a music-friendly backdrop: the record store VINYL & PLASTIC by Hyundai Card in BTS's hometown.
Opening with this summer's inescapable "Dynamite" - the group's first single to hit No. 1 in the U.S., as well as its first song to be fully recorded in English - BTS leaned hard into the new track's celebratory, "Uptown Funk"-adjacent vibes. From there, the group dipped into its back catalog, seizing on the opportunity to showcase its quieter side while (mostly) staying uncharacteristically seated. The breezily propulsive "Save ME," from 2016, ultimately gave way to a full-on power ballad in 2017's reflective "Spring Day."
The latter track seemed especially true to BTS's hopeful nature: Introduced with a few optimistic words from rapper and singer RM ("It's been the roughest summer ever, but we know that spring will come"), the song reflects on a need to wait out hard times, even as the weight of present-day pain feels oppressive.
BTS had intended to spend 2020 delighting the BTS Army in arenas around the world, only to spend these last few months performing in isolation. Released on the last day of a grim season, "Spring Day" provides a nice reminder of what awaits us on the other side. We just have to get through fall and winter first.

My son stumbled upon them in December 2012, on Soundcloud, BEFORE they debuted. He was just 10 then and SWORE to me that they were great and I needed to listen. He was right. Since then, there hasn't been a day in 7 years where their music hasn't been on at one point or another in our house.
If you just found them today, I'd encourage you to give them a shot --investigate their discography a bit more. There is something in there every single member of your family will like, and you can truly enjoy their music with EVERYONE in your family together, from your kids to your elderly grandparents.
There's a reason millions of people follow and love them. You saw a snippet of the music today. I assure you that their personalities and work ethic are every bit as vibrant as their voices, and you won't regret giving them more listens.

Really gorgeous. He can do the softest ballads and also hit some rougher, raspier, more rock tones somehow. I love it.
Suga is my bias having said that I don't think Hobi gets enough credit or attention for the performances he delivers each and every time. Stay safe
Probably an unpopular opinion but it seems hes the 2nd best vocalist in terms of vocal strength (hes not straining, able to deliver well, etc)

The prejudice stems from the American media which insist on labeling BTS as just a boy band. We all know they’re far better than the West’s definition of a boy band. Makes me a bit resentful of the American media.

I'm not a BTS follower specifically, but I see them everywhere and the one thing that 100% draws me in every time I see this group is that authentic, infectious energy they have! It's not just that upbeat energy that has them jumping and dancing all around, though their ability to hype up an audience is unmatched! I'm talking about THEIR energy, the vibe between them. You can just feel it! This is a very talented and special group of guys that were just meant to find each other, you know what I mean? Their presence is just so sincere and pure and is such a genuine and endearing part of all of them. I never fail to have a huge smile on my face when I see them, how can you not just love these guys??

I just spent almost an hour reading people's comments. New armys discovering the boys and listening to them with an open mind and without prejudice, makes my heart unbelievably happy. Reminds me a lot of when I discovered the boys right before the HER era, and how much fun it was to fall down the rabbit hole. Love the positivity and openmindedness of tiny desk listeners, and I am forever grateful for the civilians who decided to listen without prejudice.

Performing live will always be their strength. Artists right now have gotten so lazy that's it has become hard to find someone with the whole package and bts truly has it all: insane choreographies, amazing vocals, the best rappers, complex concepts for songs/albums, super down-to-earth and thoughtful lyrics and the love for music. A lot of people listen to BTS with prejudice, but once you get over that prejudice, I promise ya’ll will enjoy their music much more. I know grown men who fw bts bc they don’t care what others think. BTS’ music is universal and for everybody, man, woman, elderly, baby.

I think my favourite thing about them is their unique vocals. No two members sound alike and it's very easy to quickly identify who's singing. There are no "cookie cutter vocalists" in BTS. More than perfect technique, I appreciate the variety of colour in their voices. I also love to see them harmonize, because as much as I enjoy their individual vocals, it sounds just awesome when they blend them together.

They say that you discover bts when you need them the most and I can confirm that is 100% true. I discovered them 6.5 years ago, when I was struggling with my life and basically myself because I was in a really dark place. Now I don’t regret ever discovering these guys because their music has brought a lot happiness and healing time :)

It’s hard in this day and age to find such artistry, to find true performers, to have so many people touched and moved with music. Music and performance lost that spark over time a lot of people just doing the same thing but it works because no one has time or energy to stop and appreciate music for what it is, but here you have a band of seven men that managed to bring that spark back to bring joy even during these rough times have managed to capture so many hearts with their art. It’s so beautiful to see and I’m forever grateful to be a part of this. Thank you for never disappointing BTS every performance is truly better than the one before. I really wish them the best in their journey and their path.

you said it so well. BTS are amazing performers. their energy on stage is absolutely out of this world. I went to their Wembley concert last year and this was literally explosion of singing, dancing, rapping but also goofing around, just the way BTS always is ^^

Lyrically, “Spring Day” is wonderfully poetic, and the tone of its lyrics matches the tone of the song so well. Both are delicately sentimental and melancholy, but at the same time gives the listener a sense of hope and peace.
The lyrics tell the story of friends who have grown apart and the narrator’s longing to restore their relationship. The first verse makes it clear that the narrator misses his friend (or friends, as the “you” used in “Even though I’m looking at photos of you” is the plural form of the word) and establishes that they’ve not been able to see each other much. The situation is compared to winter, due to the longing that “falls like snow” as the narrator hopes for a spring day to arrive. The time that “runs through” the narrator’s heart is compared to a lone train going through snow (설국기차 is used in the lyrics, which is the Korean title of the film Snowpiercer).
"Spring Day" will remain timeless because everyone can relate to missing someone. Just like the song's lyrics say, it's important to be hopeful in difficult times until your "spring day" finally arrives.

rewatching random BTS videos here in youtube and I can say live versions always bring different flavor/color to the song.
I am a grandmother of 4 adults, yes adults, and yet, I listen to these wonderful colorful young men everyday in a time in our lives when so much is dark, sad, terrifying, they bring sunshine. Turn it up
I cured my depression bcz of BTS. I could also get through this dark times bcz of positive energy & spirit BTS bring to this world. They are like a ray of sunshine in a very long, dark tunnel for me. Not only their music but also their good deeds such as them donating a million dollars to concert crews who lost their jobs due to pandemic, donating a million dollars to BLM movement, donating to UNICEF and several other charities in Korea, and lowering their own advertising cost for companies affected by pandemic made me not lose faith in humanity and regain hope in humanity. They are just amazingly talented, hard working young men with good morals and great work ethics. They are inspiring to a lot of young people in this age

And if you want to see full performances I highly recommend MMA 2018 and MMA 2019. They are the best performances I have ever seen. I had chills when I watched it live for the first time
