    He's basically saying: "Don't blame yourself, Obi-wan."
He tries to release Obi-wan from the guilt. Because Vader exactly knows he can blame noone but himself for all this. And he hates himself for the rest of his life.

I took it as Vader accepting what he did as a way to fully accept the Dark Side and his living hell; otherwise, if it was Obi Wan who failed him them Vader's current living hell would be almost impossible to bear. I gather this from the comics.

You can decipher it by the lighting of the lightsaber.
When Obi-Wan sliced Darth Vader’s helmet, it was red and blue; indicating who Obi-Wan sees (Anakin) but it was Vader.
When Obi-Wan began to apologize to Anakin (bc that’s who he sees), the lighting is more blue than red, signifying that the person responding to Obi-Wan was indeed Anakin.
After that, the man in the suit is more red than blue, revealing who he became, who killed Anakin…Darth Vader.
      Then when Obi-Wan leaves,
We see a moment where there was no red nor blue; this I think means that at that instance there was a moment that whatever was left of Anakin has faded, which finally transitions to engulfing red as Obi-WAN leaves him after being said that Anakin is truly dead and addresses him as Darth Vader. And thus he became fully Darth Vader.
P.S this is my take from this scene, idk if it’s accurate 🤷‍♀️ or digging too much

I love the way Hayden Christensen delivers the line "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker...I did" with the slight change in tone and the very small smile at the end. I genuinely can't tell if that's Anakin or Vader talking. It's almost like both parts of him are saying it in different ways. Anakin's voice is in there saying it regretfully; Vader is there saying it proudly. Vader is bragging about an accomplishment while that remnant of Anakin is accepting what he did and absolving Obi-Wan. Just brilliant!

That heartbreak and pain buried beneath what he has become. It hit so perfectly for when deeply repressed feelings are resonated with. 7:31

There are many lines that can be portrayed as a split, when Anakin says "I am not your failure." He's saying it to tell Obi-Wan that he's not what made him a failure, Vader's telling him that the failure he created is dead. The writing of Vader is genius itself.

This scene was so perfectly executed. It should’ve been in Episode 3 somewhere as a flash forward, idc. But it ties the prequels and OT so well. In a way that they made rogue one a thing with a single line, this made this show worth it just for this sequence.

@@jensentaylor1384 That's a fair take, but I personally enjoyed how most of the prequel duels were shot. George let the choreography speak for itself and didn't hold back with immersive, unique backgrounds. Duel of the Fates particularly is a prime example of this. I'm no expert on cinematography, but I much prefer George's approach (little camera movement, heavy focus on the characters) than whatever this shaky cam was supposed to be.

In the case of storyboarding and storytelling, it holds up. But in execution, they both feel terribly out of practice XD. The're slow, their spins look clumsy and a lot of the decisions(Aka pummeling Vader with rocks only to have them do absolutely nothing) feels like they were done for empty spectacle. They both acted their asses off and did amazing on the story beats but the actual fight felt lackluster, especially compared to the OT and Sequel trilogy.
Still leagues better then the new trilogy due to the emotional weight though.
