the differences between the vibes of YG, JYP and SM groups are so glaring in this video man! you can so clearly tell the type of unique and specific vibes each company's groups have, they are all so different and yet its a necessary and needed diversity!

@@annebanga5832 YG girl groups have more of a fierce and charismatic hip-hop influence and girl crush vibe, JYP girl groups are more pop-y and cutesy, with a "girl power" kindof vibe, and SM girl groups each have their own unique experimental-ish vibe thats hard to explain and yet you can tell that theyre all from the same company! these descriptions are of course my own opinions, and its hard to put them out in words but after listening to songs from all 3 of the Big 3 companies for many many years, its very easy to differentiate which group is from which company cos all of them have very unique YG vibes, JYP vibes and SM vibes!
they are all very different, but i feel like these differences are very much appreciated cos since theyve managed to find their own styles of music and set themselves apart from each other, it keeps kpop fresh and exciting for us listeners!

The golden era of Kpop was 2007 - 2017. So much originality and so many bops in a decade! Glad to say I started listening to Kpop at the start of the 2nd generation boom and sad that their time has passed 😢New Kpop fans will never know the frustration of waiting for a group to come out of hiatus and discussing it on our favorite Kpop forums.

nah i feel the majority of kpop was too cutesy tootsey back then and quite cringe (girl groups), bigbang were fire though and are the kings of kpop. but girl groups are way better now. songs like first - everglow, next level - aespa and hylt - blackpink bring the fire and attitude!
The way 2NE1 made it in all rankings until 2014. SNSD also dominating the charts until 2015.
But I still love how a group's ability and how groups are judged on how good they are weren't based on mv views on KRplus, stans actually cared about the songs and keep rewatching mvs because they loved the song. Not because they want to get "most viewed kpop mv in 24hrs" or "fastest kpop mv to reach x views" stans now just keep streaming and streaming the mv on KRplus even when they're not paying attention

Girls Generation, 2ne1, and F(x) were the blueprints for Twice, Blackpink, and Itzy respectively. Groups I loved back then (and still love) and new groups I love now.

Respect to the old groups because KRplus is not that big as what we see today, but they managed to overcome that as we can see how popular they are back then.
I love that every 2ne1 songs are unique and yet all sounds amazing, if they haven't disbanded they'd be on their way to pioneer the kpop global phenomenon, their last album charted in billboard and the highest charting kpop album at that time. I like Blackpink and their music, I jam to it often but they're just not on that evolutionary level 2ne1 was. 2NE1 also had MUCH more artistic freedom, completely deciding which direction their sound would go, Blackpink just execute Teddy's decision and that's it. I agree, Blackpink are absolutely dominating, but had 2ne1 remained, the kpop scene and sound would sound much more different and mature.

Teddy wrote and produced almost all of their discography and the direction 2ne1 went was all bcoz of teddy's idea. Sure 2ne1 looked like they had more freedom bcoz they didn't look like the average idol..they wore clothes different from other cute concepts that's why they got attention but if u look closely they don'have much freedom..maybe they had freedom image-wise bcoz social media wasn't big back then and media scrutiny wasn't that big too so idols had more freedom image-wise. But now if u make one mistake/scandal u could be easily cancelled that's why idols nowadays, idols rarely react to each other 2ne1 only got their freedom when they were almost close to disbandment like Cl got her artistic freedom when she went to America .

the issue with this video is they arent the most viewed videos from each year, they are the most viewed videos today that were released in a certain year. not an accurate reflection of the most popular tunes at the time

Fantastic video. I started loving kpop in the 2nd gen, so for me, it was great to see 2ne1, SNSD, Sistar, Kara, 4minute, Secret, T-ara, etc, so many awesome groups who are no longer together... and then you see BP and Twice coming along to dominate. But sad to know that EunB, RiSe, Sulli and Hara are no longer here. :-(
The thing I love about Twice is that their views are real, not fake. They are talented and design their songs and dances. Really, it's a group that won't be repeated for 100 years.

@@usagimelo it is pretty widely accepted by the kpop world (although not confirmed by their company) that their debut was rushed in order to cover up scandals that were happening with the other groups in their company( Jessica leaving SNSD, Exo M lawsuits, etc.)
Evidence: the quality of their debut music video is obviously low quality( cheap quickly put together sets, most of it is CGI, not consistently edited in post production, compared to other MVs the low quality is especially noticeable)
This also explains why Yeri was added about 9 months later( they were supposed to debut as 5 but promotions had to be pushed sooner and she was too young to debut)
People were also hating on Red Velvet from the start because they were taking away attention from F(x) and people immediately suspected they were meant to be a distraction so people did not take them seriously.
If they had been given the promotion they deserve they could have avoided a lot of hate and been more successful from the beginning instead of it taking so long( considering Yeri is still the most disliked member of Red Velvet to this day).
