This table is a great representation of space time. It's the curbs in the woods that appear to stretch. He had a brilliant understanding of this as he made the build.
I was going to comment where do they teach this at until I read the comments and realized what he accomplished probably couldn't be taught and was pure genius at work.
The way you lined up the LED’s with the maple laminate strips is amazing. Well done 👍🏻
is that a table or a urinal?
Whoa what? You created this masterpiece in 140 hours? Does anyone else think that's bonkers? I was thinking more like 1000+ hours.
I would need at least 140 just for planning a project like this, then maybe 1000 to second guess every step along the way and measure everything about 50times while it’s being made, then about 200hours of cooling off time because it’s not going to plan.
it doesn't look like a table, I thought it was a urinal🤭
You realize that 1000 hours is a full time job for 6 months right? Are you insane ? XD
Im no engineer or mathematician but you have to be an alien to create such perfect symmetry by eye. Its truly mind blowing. Dont sell it , it needs to be in an art museum. That was incredible to watch. Thank you

I’m sure the symmetry comes from the cubes.
I’m pretty sure measurements are made, it ‘s just not obvious in the video. Creating something as intricate and symmetrical as this is difficult without measurement.
That what expensive tooling is for
From an engineer and artist, I can honestly say that this is one of the most impressive pieces of work I have ever seen. Executed to utter perfection. An absolute masterpiece. Well done, my friend.
There is no denying that some of those veneer lines don't line up in the end. That is because perfection doesn't exist. This is an incredible feat to make, regardless.

He looked like a dumb ass throwing his tools and workpiece around. Oliver are you an adult or twelve?
The way he throws his shit hahaha
I'll second this, to include the frustration made it more real than any other DIY vid I've seen in a while.
While refreshing to see, as someone on the spectrum who is adverse to sudden loud noises and who watches these types of videos to relax when I'm stressed out..... I would have appreciated a clearer warning to take off my headphones or mute. 😕
I was really quite startled. I was 100% not expecting such visible emotion. Quite disturbing to me when I'm not expecting that kind of content incoming.
"Clamping it got tricky" does nothing to inform that an emotional, loud outburst is incoming.... In a genre of video that is typically very methodical and chill to watch. I might expect that kind of outburst on a video called "Maker loses it while clamping wood for epic custom wormhole table".... But I'm also never in 1000 years going to click on a video like that because I do not enjoy rage content.
I mean, that was a super childish reaction to frustration. It's a gorgeous table and incredible work, but adults shouldn't literally throw objects and tantrums when they get frustrated. That's the kind of thing that people should check out therapy for: to learn better, more mature coping strategies. I wouldn't accept that behavior from one of my 11 year old math students.
Olivier is a certifiable maths and woodworking genius. Not only is the work astounding, just thinking of the idea puts him on a level all his own. This piece belongs in an art museum!
Actually, it belongs in a science museum! The way the grid illustrates the warping of space-time by gravity is incredible!!

@@BrispyCinnaBlunts Agreed! I took wood shop a lifetime ago when I was in High School. Just turning an already straight piece of wood is a little nerve wracking. Seeing him take that chunk of glued pieces with edges everywhere and turning it literally made ME sweat watching the video…LOL! Balls that “CLANK”! I’ll stick to Kreg jig window/door
trim assembly and basic millwork with a table saw, jointer and thickness planer and leave the lathe work to real professionals.
