Does he sack Conte, because he's right and has allowed this to happen? It might be the only way forward for the club, in the short term. In the long term, if they don't see it through with Conte, then we'll be having a similar performance with a difference manager, so who knows what will happen!

    Conte is an exceptional manager, whose rΓ©sumΓ© speaks for itself. However, when he took this job, he was well aware of all the issues related to the culture of the club. He took the job knowing who Levy was and how he operated. He took the job knowing the history of Spurs. Conte was so aware of the situation that he rejected the offer the first time. What on Earth did he expect to happen? Also, half the players on the pitch yesterday were ones he recruited, so, there's that.

    • @tomj819
      @tomj819 λ…„ μ „ +2

      I don't think there has ever been a great manager who didn't have a robust ego. Thinking you can be the one to succeed where others fail is part of the makeup of top flight management; you just can't be right all the time.
      Bringing a few players into a squad that doesn't sweat for the badge isn't going to change that; they will either play monkey-see-monkey-do or think "why should I bust my ass every match day when noone else does?" The last player I watched in a Spurs shirt who left everything on the pitch was Erikson...

      Probably the players don't take it seriously enough. To win trophies at the highest level you really need to be willing to fight with all you've got, you need extremely strong passion and desire to win. Kane and Son are technically exceptional players (definitely among the best on the planet), but sometimes I feel both of them don't have the mentality it takes to win. They seem good guys, in their mind football is most likely just their job. They don't really seem to have that aggressivity, that ego, that extreme desire to win that is often necessary. Same thing seems to lack a bit in the English national team by the way. Lighting up that fire, that passion and team spirit is usually one of Conte's greatest strengths, so there really must be some issue beyond his control

    • @sherwood9917
      @sherwood9917 λ…„ μ „
