Gengar’s Sun Pokédex entry states the following: “If you feel a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up.”
The games literally tell you that sensing a Gengar means that you will suffer a painful, horrible death shortly after, and that there is no way to prevent it, and that you should just accept your fate and let it consume your soul. I’m pretty sure that’s a tad bit spookier than a koala in a permanent coma.

what about litwick? whom guides people and pokemon into dark areas so it can feed on their life force
or Lampent? (litwick evolved form) who roams around hospitals to find a dying person or pokemon to steal their spirits
Personally I always chose to believe they fed on Negative emotions/pain as I found them adorable, but since pain grounds people it does possibly cause some people to pass on but while at peace

And Chandelure sucks up souls to burn, presumably as fuel since it IS a chandelier. Spirits burned in such a manner become wandering spirits for all eternity, which I suppose means that it can only use part of them, discarding the leftovers.
People: Why do the pokemon want to take our souls and children?
traps them in small metal ball for entire life and sometimes never lets them out and digitalizes them or forces them to battle against their will.

Yeah Drifloon is pretty creepy, but there are pokedex entries that talk about the fact that it is pretty light so when it tries to grab a child's hand it often gets pulled around instead and runs away if the child plays with it too roughly.
The Ultra Moon Dex entry TRIES to make it a little less creepy: "Wandering souls gathered together to form this Pokémon. When trying to make friends with children, Drifloon grabs them by the hand."
*2 Years Later* Yeah, it probably takes a group of them to grab a kid to drag off. Otherwise, some excitable toddler or little kid probably mistakes them for a regular balloon and drags them around. The summarized PokeDex entries don't give a lot of context and the snippet can sound a little misleading, especially with conflicting entries in the past or within both games in a Gen. Just like how they've shown the changed entries in the last video on this.
Regardless, even some of the original Blue, Red, Green and Yellow entries were pretty spooky.

Komalas are better than parasect. It has had it's mind consumed and controlled by a fungus... which is based on the real life fungus that actually infects insects and arachnids called Cordyceps/ Ophiocordyceps.

When I was little I was really creeped out by the Alakazam that Ash battles in one of the episodes. Not only did the Alakazam have telekinesis (which it could use to literally make your heart stop), it had a weird bond with its trainer who was a 5-year-old child who also somehow had telekinesis powers?

I have a theory.
The black nothingness under mimikyus rags could be a banette. They are around the same height and even the black hand that comes out from under it looks like Banettes hand. But that’s not even what I meant about this yet. Since Pikachu is loved by all children and it’s every child’s dream to have a Pikachu to fight alongside them through out their childhoods it wanted to have that same experience, knowing that a kid wouldn’t throw or give away a Pikachu. So maybe it hopes to find a child that loves him as much as Pikachu.

@@guyontheinternet8891 well I guess your right. They do like Pikachu cuz he's Ash's starter in the anime (some ppl like him cuz he's cute too) but sometimes even without Ash he's just everywhere. Even in the Gen 8 trailer! That's why I said so and people just like Pikachu cuz they say he's cute but even any other Pokemon can be cute too like I dunno Bulbasaur! Also... Respect for the Bulbasaurs (people never chose it as there starter... Bulbasaur isn't my favorite Pokemon but I'm just saying)
It’s pretty logical that some Pokemon are based on actual objects of real life it’s a references to particular type of Yokai (Japanese ghost/demon) the folklore said that if you leave your well loved object suddenly or treat them badly they grow spirit and became Yokai. It also explain why the franchise got a bit wild in some cute Pokémon descriptions 😂 after all they are pocket monsters.
