I used to be an adventurer like you but then I took an Eldritch Blast to the face after a failed dexterity check made an arrow miss my knee. Now I'm forever wrapped in the embrace of Cthulu! Pfft... Wood Elves.

... a loud clang echoes as the pommel of Dob's rapier strikes the concrete beside the nearly incapacitated guard's head. Before he can recover an arrow whizzes past his face, lodging itself deep into the ground just beside fallen man's knee. What in the hell...? he thinks to himself as he turns back to see a crestfallen Merilwen standing beside the cart, recently expended bow in hand. He is about to call out to her when the air suddenly begins to crackle. Like a vampire roused from its slumber, Prudence slowly looms out from beneath the sheet, arms outstretched at her sides, eyes aglow with demonic fury. All the while, the sound of hysterical laughter can still be heard at the other end of the hall. Dob barely has time to duck before a torrent of arcane energy comes hurtling in the direction of the poor guard's face, melting it as well as the rest of his body into an unidentifiable pink paste. Corazon, alarmed by the commotion, finishes tying up the now softly sobbing entry man and returns to investigate. He finds Dob lying in the fetal position beside a crimson smear on the stone being looked upon by a shaken Merilwen and a rather huffy looking Prudence. "She she she..." is all the orc can manage, but the scene needs no explanation. Corazon gapes at Prudence in disgust. "I'm a pirate, and even I think that's bad." The tiefling only rolls her eyes. "You're welcome," is all she says.
This is so good!
The OXBOX crew is funnier and thus still somewhat better, though.

You know, rewatching these old episodes and I'm realizing how good D&D is at promoting teamwork. Andy was very... Type A in the early episodes. But as time has gone on, he's much more flexible and cooperative. And Ellen, she's always been quiet and a bit passive, but she's gotten more confident since these episodes.

As a fairly experienced DM I can say with certainty that you are playing it wrong and also that whatever mutation you've created is amazing. Don't change a thing and please give me more!
luvurnignog As someone that started playing a few months ago, I can confirm that they're playing it wrong and that they should absolutely keep going.
As someone who played a couple times I can confirm that they are playing it correctly. You can't play DnD wrong which is like the biggest selling point. It's all up to you and your imagination how you play and what is right or wrong.
@Timmy Teaches The current rules are pretty specific and clean, actually. You can play it "wrong" in terms of not even remotely in line with those rules (like using completely incorrect stats, giving abilities at wrong levels, etc) - that's why the game can be played competativesly (see: tournaments). It's just that "wrong" in the context of a home game is fine - you defended against what wasn't even a criticism.
They are playing it wrong rule-wise. But they are having so much fun, that it's delightful.
I feel like the only things I spotted as wrong were Johnny calling for a Dex check on Prudence's Eldritch Blast- should use her spellcasting ability mod, Dob not getting advantage on a prone guard, and the guard's AC changing from 12 to 11, IIRC.
But how can Dob fit gold in his pocket when it's full of Spicy Rat?

I have said it before and i will say it again....... I love you guys. I have never been interested in D&D before watching Prudence, Merilwen, Dob and the thief :D. On their first ever adventure, I suppose i should mention his name....
Yep. Oxbox single-handedly managed to get me interested into D&D. I might even go out and try to find others who are as funny and wonderfully disorganized, yet also extremely intelligent and highly effective, as they are.
Try watching Critical Role. A little long but it is very funny.
I'm a bit disappointed the chest wasn't a mimic. Mimics are the best (from a DM point of view I mean)

They are only lvl 1 I would doubt they would be able to handle a legit mimic. But there could of been a trap or at least a lock

I was looking to see if anyone pointed it out. I got all twitchy when he kept telling Jane to use her Dex instead of Cha with her spell. That, and Eldritch Blast doesn't add your modifier to the damage unless you have (and use) the Agonizing Blast invocation, which you don't get until level 2. Yes, I am a nerd and bit of a "rules lawyer."

"Corazón, Prudence, Dob and Merilwen" is the most iconically D&D collection of character names I've ever seen.
Whenever Jane eldritch blasts that guy in the face I just imagine the scene from Halo 4. Or the ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
This is my new version of a Saturday morning cartoon. Thrilling and mysterious villains, interesting if slightly inept heroes, an intriguing plot with spicy rats. What more could anyone ask for?
