This is a Tokyo day in the life story of a Japanese man and Japanese women deciding to move in together into their new Tokyo home. This is an inside look at Dating in Japan or dating someone Japanese. We start the typical Japanese life in the morning and explore Japanese relationship culture with Yujin and Arisa. Living in Tokyo is quite different than most parts of the world. Throughout this day in the life in Japan Tokyo video, we can have an Japanese apartment tour and walk through the Japanese moving company procedures. Yujin is 27 years old, works for IT solutions firm in Tokyo as a sales person and has lived in this Tokyo apartment by Yoyogi Park for 2 years now.
    Arisa is 26. They’ve been going out now for a strong 11 months as you can tell by their tooth brushing routine. These days, Arisa sleeps over mosts nights so it was natural for them to start thinking of getting a larger place together that they could share.
    So they are moving out of this 1K apartment in Yoyogi. 1K means 1 room, Kitchen and the bath. Pretty typical size for a single person’s apartment in Tokyo. It may be small to most, but since the room’s on the 9th floor it has a pretty decent view.
    Also, this main room has 2 closets which is nice since Japanese apartments tend to have minimal storage areas.
    He has a medium sized fridge as you can’t really fit anything larger than this in the kitchen. It filled with your standard drinks, fresh vegetables, soy sauce and tea.
    In the bathroom area, there’s a washing machine, sink and toilet. The toilet itself has the standard Japanese bidet and controller, as expected in most newer apartments.

This is a tldr and im going to find you the data when i can to make sure i am giving correct info.

    • @kensavage7657
      @kensavage7657 4 년 전 +18

      @@ape8572 Yep, the productivity in Japanese offices is often abysmal.
      To define "productivity", it's the effective level of output based on the unit of input. So, if you take 8 hours to build 8 items - an increase in productivity would see you build 9 items in the same 8 hours. Likewise, if each worker is only building 6 items in 8 hours, that's a decrease. Simple enough so far. If you increase the unit input, the unit output should be able to increase linearly. So if you work 10 hours a day, you should be able to produce 10 items at this rate of productivity.
      However, people aren't robots and when working longer, office work (especially) suffers. Worker's productivity is higher at certain parts of the day, and lower at others. Workers are most productive in the morning, and productivity lowers sometime after lunchtime. The more hours you work per week, the earlier each day this downward trend will begin. For this reason, constantly working longer hours actually lowers how much a worker produces on a daily basis.
      While many western companies recognise this shift, and the focus moves to a happier and more motivated productive workforce (for example, my previous company had an uncapped annual leave policy - you take whatever you feel you need) - Japanese culture is still very much that you work long and hard.
      It's a common unwritten rule in Japan that you cannot leave the office before your boss does. And your boss must wait for his boss to leave. So, regardless of whether you're actually busy or not - you stay at your desk until your boss leaves. If you leave before your boss - it WILL be noticed. People may be "at work" for 12 hours in a day - but you simply can't actually work that long every day. So much of the time is simply wasted, meaning lower productivity.
      Funnily enough, there's a subliminal reverse racism in Japan. If you are not Japanese (say you are black/white/whatever) - then you will always be considered a "Gaijin" (foreigner). You could live and work in Japan for 40 years, marry a Japanese person, speak the language perfectly and have children - and you'd still be considered a Gaijin. The expectation is that you would not be able to understand Japanese people and their culture. The good part of this is that Japanese workplace rules would not apply to you. If you work the same job with another Japanese person in an office, and you jump up to leave at 5pm while your co-worker stays until 8/9pm - no-one will take any issue with you doing this. You're always going to be considered the ignorant foreigner anyway, so you can't go down any further in their estimations :)

Usually Asian parents get protective, they'd ask their children (especially for daughters usually) to introduce their partners to them. To see if they are worth for their children, to see if they've all the requirements and such. Not meeting the parents like backstreet does happen but that's mostly for kids/high school kids who only date for fun 😌 Once we become university students, most of us meet our partner's parents and vice versa.

      Taking shoes off every time they enter a dirty apartment from which the furniture is being moved is a bit useless. Taking shoes off in a new apartment makes sense.
      But actually the movers we hired in the NYC tri state area did pretty much the same as those Japanese ones did. They disassembled our furniture, covered it with shrink wrap and set up the essentials in the new place. They used booties on their shoes in the new apartment where we were moving. They did not connect appliances, just put them on the right places...
