This is actually better than the original. It's amazing how they brought back the original into the new one perfectly. The flying is better in the new one. I get chills thinking about the canyon run and the G's on Cruise's face. You can't fake that.
I'll do a real reply unlike the other guy. I agree 100%. This one had the actual combat the original was missing. Like they just did a lot of training in the original but this one only like half was training and the rest was blood-pumping action.
You know it's gonna be good when Bill Pullman's son is cast as one of the pilots. That's a good bloodline. His dad outfllew Dark Helmet and single-handedly led the airborne counterattack that saved the world from aliens.

Actually he sort of did it twice as far as the 2nd part goes if you count the second Independence Day movie, although in that one he kind of took the Russell Case route at the end and sacrificed himself.
Incredible, Tom Cruise at his finest, no rubbish CGI, just heart thumping action like no other film has ever delivered. This film will clean up at the Oscars.
If you go to a movie solely on the fact that there's no CGI and good action, then this is a good flick. Like most of Tom Cruise' movies are. Oscars really mean nothing but even then yeah it might get some awards for some cool scenes. But this just falls into the realm of Marvel movies for me. Nothing I need to turn my brain on for and just absorb the explosions and guns going boom.

Dare I say it? Better than the original!
To be fair,
I wasn't old enough to live through the 80's which was probably one of the best decades to be alive. Through the stories I heard this movie is and will always be a legendary icon for it's time. It's perfectly understandable that not many movies had ever come close to reaching the incredible success accomplished with the original from 1986.
Fast forward 36 Years today and I finally got the chance to experience this thriller on the big screen! It had me feeling goosebumps from the sounds of the jets to the feeling of the G forces which had me pushing back on the theater's recliner chair with each take off.
I honestly had low expectations coming in and was pleasantly surprised to find this sequel an even better experience when compared to the original which I love.
Shoutout to Tom Cruise for sticking with his passion for a lifetime. His work is nothing short of legendary and a true testament to the legacy he has worked his entire life to achieve.
Just watched it myself, I would say if this film was a film with no former it would be a film that's entertaining but you do have to let your mind forget reality and believe anything is possible. Half the film focused on goose, the other half practicing a mission that one moment is impossible, next minute mavric is doing it in near half the time . Suddenly the rest of the picked pilots are just as able. There's plenty that could be picked apart about this film but it's the nostalgia that saves it.
As someone who grew up with my Dad loving Top Gun and listened to In the Danger Zonenearly every day in the car as a kid I never really experienced 80's like he did. He loved it and always felt like Maverick on his motorbike and flying for the Red Arrows. But looking back now and going to watch the film with my Dad one thing he said was "its amazing how your technology makes movies so amazing, this way was better than the first one as you could experience how it felt for us inside a cockpit."
I was blown away by this movie, it doesn't have the 80's feel which the first one has and gives me butterflies, but it is sure full of adrenaline from start to finish! I feel blessed to have gone with my Dad to watch this movie while he is still alive.

I was freshman high school when the first Top Gun was released. It was so talked about that time that many of my high school batch mates joined military academy after graduation.

Saw this yesterday. Simply Magnificent. Had me and my other half on the edge of our seats throughout the movie. Tom Cruise shows Hollywood how to make a movie without needing CG.
Fantastic movie. I wish Disney treated Luke Skywalker the way Paramount treats Maverick. That's how sequels are done.

Saw the movie on 5/24/22. Amazing movie, great action, and well acted. You can feel the G's and the speed. Well written and worthy successor to original Top Gun movie. Visuals and flight scenes are outstanding.

This movie blew me away the dog fight scenes were amazing. I recommend watching this movie in theaters it will take you on the edge-of-your-seat literally.

Some movies, you stream for free, others from services, and PPV still. Sometimes its worthy to see in theatres. I have been waiting, and saw Wednesday, in IMAX. When makers put in solid effort for practical and real effects, instead of CGI ‘everything’, it makes it worth it to see. Thanks for a Great F N Film!
Some guts to stand below that machine moving at 480 kts. Kudos to camera and background crew for capturing those scenes more than the cast. Cast was just sitting in B models being flown by champion pilots of Navy.

I am really curious how they will do it, in the original Top Gun Tom Cruise's character is a young pilot finding his way. In this version he is probably more of the elderly mentor for the young guys. (PS: Just a fun fact and I mean no insult. In the real top gun school, the top graduate every years are not US pilots it is pilots from US allies, most of them are from Taiwan, South Korea or Japan. But, unlike in the movie, because they are not US citizens they won't return as instructors later. But they do often become top instructor after returning home. Not only in fighter jets purchase from the US, but other fighters.) Although Taiwan is the only East Asian country right now that develop its own fighters, including the IDF-1 in the 90s and IDF-2 in 2010.

Wish the rest of Hollywood approached movie making like Tom Cruise. We just want to forget about all the drama in the world and see a movie that we’ll never forget. He tends to be involved in projects like that. I used to go to the movies once or twice a week. Now it’s maybe once a month.

Watched it, worth the wait. Loved all the dogfighting and realistic scenes. Gives a real life perspective to the kids who aspire to become pilots on how it is to be in the box.
I honestly didn't realise, how accustomed my eyes have become to CGI movies. This has blown that veil off!

I'm 15 and all I've ever wanted to do was be a fighter pilot, even before I saw Top Gun. Being able to watch this masterpiece with my dad on the 28th means more than the world to me and I am so grateful for the production of a sequel, no matter how delayed it's release is.
Keep chasing those dreams, kid. I was influenced by the first movie. It’s been a hell of a ride and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

Just watched the movie in cinema yesterday. It was a total banger. Best film I have ever seen in a cinema. Goose bumps at evey minute of the film. Literally the hair on my hands started to rise as the jets took of in the climax. I would totally recommend watching it more than once or atheist once.
