Miles did a great job. I forgive him confusing RIO and Wingman. They are flying different planes. In the F14 they all had RIO's and they also had a wingman. In Top Gun Maverick most of them fly the F/A18, which is a fighter plane which is normally a single seater. Interesting that both Mav and Rooster chose to fly as fighter pilots in the F18 rather than in the two seat attack version. It's like they are both afraid to be responsible for another person in their plane.
He could have meant "wingman" as a very close friend. It is often used that way.
Don't blame Maverick however he did have Merlin (played by Tim Robbins) as his RIO went he shot down three MiGs.
I have had the biggest crush on Miles for years now. He stole my heart when he was in Bleed For This. Miles did an awesome job as Rooster. He fantastically portrayed Rooster's emotions from everything from intercharacter conflicts to the character arc. Looking forward to seeing more of his works.
miles teller is like crazy awesome. he gets to do almost everything like a bit of any skill a versatile actor w so much side training picked up from different films like you got martial arts from divergent and drums from whiplash and now throwing in some aviation from top gun

Hangman is a lot like maverick and iceman from the looks of it
They’re a bit of both I think. Hangman got the nickname because he often left his team to do the job from what I remember? He knows that he’s really good (He is). He got the focus like Iceman but with the ‘if they cant keep up its their fault’ arrogance which makes him ‘dangerous’ (to his teammates) like young Maverick. Rooster on the other hand. He’s also good, but he’s too careful, because he doesnt want to take any risk that jeopardize his teammates safety.
