I understand that he probably felt a lot of pressure to speak out and address it after his identity was confirmed, but I feel like he escalated the situation. In an ideal world several major youtubers would get together and either start their own platform or move to another, thus launching a competitor with millions and millions of viewers instantly. I know several YTs I watch that say if there were a comparable platform they’d make the move. The monetization, areas where rules go beyond strict, other areas where they let people get away with everything but a legally convicted crime (despite overwhelmingly damming evidence) etc. is too much. I get what they’re trying to do but they’re suffocating their viewers and their creators. The people who want these rules are in a tiny minority. Most importantly, creators (even people with millions of subs) have little if any ability to contact YT about a multitude of issues so I have no idea why they even pretend like they’ll listen to appeals. If flawed AI programming flagged it (with no innate ability to determine nuance and context) that’s all they care about.
