- Everybody has a soul. Joe Gardner is about to find his. Watch the new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s Soul, in theaters June 19.
About Soul:
What is it that makes you...YOU? This Christmas only on Disney+, Pixar Animation Studios’ all-new feature film “Soul” introduces Joe Gardner (voice of Jamie Foxx) - a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before - a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22 (voice of Tina Fey), who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions. Directed by Academy Award® winner Pete Docter (“Inside Out,” “Up”), co-directed by Kemp Powers (“One Night in Miami”) and produced by Academy Award nominee Dana Murray, p.g.a. (Pixar short “Lou”), Disney and Pixar’s “Soul” is streaming only on Disney+ beginning December 25.

90s pixar: here's a cute movie about toys that talk.
20s pixar: everything is terrifying, here's why living matters though it may feel mundane.
Me: THEY EVOLVED
I don't know, toys got pretty existential too...
The whole theme of Toy Story is what it means to be a toy and Buzz discovering he is one is very much about existentialism.
Considering that kids are commiting suicide more and more obviously they need a lesson on why living even when its ordinary is preferable to not existing soooooo.

This movie is a reminder that happiness is not a destination. You don't have to get to a certain point or achieve a certain something before you can fully enjoy life and be happy.
The part in the little story where the fish said "This is water, what I want is the ocean" really got to me cause once you realize that the ocean you've been chasing for so long is also water, you'll see that you've been postponing living and happiness whilst you could have been happy all along.

MINOR SPOILERS
This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, there's so much character, everybody has such interesting personalities, even the random people walking on the streets, just look and behave so real.
I loved every single character in this show, I loved seeing and hearing people from so many different cultures, races and time periods.
The barbershop scene was amazing and that all the jokes were spot on especially the ones in the Soul World.
This show reminded me of that wonder I had learning about art, through 22's eyes, and all the other wonderful simple things in this world.
I loved that "hands are hard joke"😂
It was animated and lit so well,
And so many other things, this show was absolutely amazing and I honestly don't think there's a single thing I dislike about it, I honestly think this is one of my favourite movies of all time.
It made me realize that life isn't just finding a single purpose and chasing after it, it's about enjoying every step of the way, and every moment in your life before and after a passion.
Life shouldn't be all about your passion it should be all about having fun and enjoying and appreciating every single moment regardless of whether it has to do with that passion or not. You can work towards a goal, without allowing it to be your entire life. Regardless of what your passion is you should always make it your number one goal, to enjoy your day and your life as a whole.
Pixar, thank you, thank you, thank you❤❤❤

@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 of course, of course, I like music but I'm more of an artist but even I found myself mesmerized. It was absolutely incredible how amazing it sounded. Every time someone would play an instrument, it really had a "presence" and it would just grab your attention.
To see the negative thoughts illustrated on screen had such a profound impact on me. As someone who is constantly anxious about the feelings of others and depressed about my own being, seeing those negative voices being directed towards someone else so openly really surprised me. I’ve become so detached from myself that the scene was like a slap in the face as to what it must look like for my own mind to drive such negativity towards myself everyday. I never cry to movies, but this scene made me cry.

Yeah that seemed like a big reveal to me
But in order for his soul to be trying to get back, wouldn't his body still need to be alive anyway? Otherwise, who/what would his soul be going back to?

Future Pixar: “What if gingers had souls?”
2030: What if politics had souls
it's what it black people had feelings
What if souls had toys?
I thought it was what if toys had feelings....etc.
I watched this movie right after the death of my dear grandfather. I remember i was totally depressed at that time and watching this movie really helped me to deal with his death. Since then every time i watch Soul , it reminds me of him. And its kind of depressing. RIP grandpa. You will be always in my mind:)
It’s crazy how they show the truth in the movies . People who had near death experiences mentioned they saw the tunnel of light and gotten sucked into it and saw the light which radiates unconditional love. And this movie shows it

"Is this living worth dying for"
lol
Yup
There is no virus. Just fear and stupidity.
@@SirIkeMedia There is a virus, and thousands of people are dying from it. Tho there are millions of people being infected, so it has only, like, a 0.1% fatality rate.

i've been kinda struggling with not finding any purpose in life lately so this hit deep home ... might have cried through the entire movie
How old are you? Do your best to affect people positively. Care. Talk to them. Ask how they are.
It was soo beautiful! Honestly one of the most uplifting movies! Truly a movie to watch when those little voices in your head start asking you what the purpose is...
This movie is gonna be so sad, I’m already crying
Edit: Bloody hell, I cried like a little girl. This was not a film for children. I swear.
I guess that's why they brought in Trent reznor and Atticus Ross for the score. XD
Ima ready to jump to the screen that day June 19 and hug it
I don't get this movie what's this all about
@MR. THUNDER oh okay i thought its inside out 2
OK
inside out : Feelings have feelings
Soul : existential crisisis and the fear of death have feelings
I don’t get why people compare the two the visual look the same but that’s about it
@@The-Spaceducky same studio?
i watched this and i cried…it’s honestly so beautiful.
*SPOILER*
what i really loved is when 22 became a lost soul and that little memory was able to make her remember and appreciate life again. i thought that was so amazing
This should also be nominated for best picture in the oscars cause it needs to.

I was watched with my dad and my mom and several days or weeks after unfortunately my dad passed away. I really miss him and this film is very meaningful to my mom and I. Thanks Pixar.❤️
He has returned home..you never die.
It's very upsetting that Soul did not go trending like Luca and Turning Red, but honestly, I think I get why.
Unlike Luca and Turning Red, Soul requires the viewer to infer and interpret what the movie is about. It isn't simplistic like the other two films, it's something that only an adult can truly decipher. That's why it isn't trending, it's a movie not all ages can understand.
True the movie shows how life can be complicated yet so simple
Edit: Honestly I don't know how to explain it 😂😂
you gotta realize that pixar movies aren't just for kids. they're for everyone. pixar creates family movies. not kids movies.

Pixar: *Channeling their inner James Cameron* "We have to go DEEPER!"
LOL! That's true!
*EVEN FURTHER BEYOND*
you gotta did a little deeper,
to find out who you are
they even copied an Inside out character. two, actually, morphing them into the lead we see. still looks like a neat film.
I work with kids who have undergone complex trauma and inside out is a phenomenal tool to use while working with them
I like how this trailer avoids spoiling a huge twist that happens half-way thru the film. Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and John Batiste made one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. The music that plays in The Great Before and The Great Beyond was so beauitful. The Jazz and the electronic music was a great combination.
I hope we get a sequel someday so we can see what 22 looks like in the new human form
Pixar Theory is gonna have fun with this one
Look at Onward. This actually meshes nicely with Inside Out but maybe not coco

As much as I kinda wanted a Ratatouille style movie about this guy just trying to make it big, this actually seems really good.
Annalyn Yeah, the animation of the people look really good. But maybe it helps to contrast.
Yeah I was initially super disappointed when I saw the blue people but this looks really interesting. Definitely gonna give it a watch

I would love another ratatouille type movie!!
I thought exactly the same thing when I saw the first teaser they put out, but since I saw this it looks like we're getting a good movie.
The drawing in this movie is sooo phenomenal that it actually looks like real humans sometimes in some scenes. It is truly one of my favorite kids movies now. It really hits home!
I just remembered that I had this in my dream before. I was running from the death. And I need to feel it back and make my everyday worth

I love how animated movies targeted toward kids are talking about real issues like life and death. Coco did a good job with providing cultural aspects of it and now we have this that's blatantly about life and death. Love it

All sympathizers of Disney and Pixar: you are too late for Soul's victory was empty due to being religiously blasphemous against God.
Everyone, destroy your Disney+ subscriptions for Disney has made everyone brainless, dumb and naive. Go for the mature, adult, intelligent and realistic content Netflix and HBO Max offers
All Christians and Catholics, rejoice for the true hard-earned victory God has given to Wolfwakers. Let this be a lesson Disney and Pixar should learn not to be complacent, repetitive, predictable and stagnant.

I wonder if 22 will remember Joe when they grow up, because I'm assuming that the soul is gonna enter a baby's body and start all over.
Also, this movie was a 10/10. It was funny, sweet, meaningful and so inspiring.
22 was a girl. And she fell in Nepal or India so...low chances
I think they (or she idk) won't remember him, but they's mindset will be the same. They will remember this feeling, this message what they found out on this journey.
There is NO reincarnation. "And as it is appointed unto men ONCE to die, but after this the judgment:" Hebrews 9:27!

I'm calling it. The guy will eventually convince the girl to experience life. On the other hand, the girl will eventually convince the guy to let go.
Ooooh I like that idea
Then they'll agree to disagree and go their separate ways
The other hand part seems a bit dark though because if it is truly like that, then in other words they’re implying that living isn’t all worth it into kids heads, so imo it should definitely not be like that lol
@@Brantore Especially considering the context of the guy's death- he wasn't 90 something years old with nothing left to do, he was just getting started on life, hit it big and stuff like that.

Yup exactly, so hopefully it’s that he convinces the female soul that it’s worth living
The real, human world of a Pixar movie has never looked so beautiful. Toy Story 4 looked great, but this feels like a whole new level.
Let me tell you a little something about a movie called Ratatouille, my boy.
Yeah. They really seemed to nail the lighting and atmosphere in this one.
Yeah, the difference here is it looks alive. Not life-like like Toy Story 4, but alive. There's a big difference between those two things.
Yeh I agree, there's something special about the animation of the main character
I have a feeling this movie will be a visual masterpiece
The biggest trick our mind plays on us is thinking,
"I'II be happy when.
We go after our dreams, thinking that happiness is on the other side of that big thing we want to achieve. But living in constant pursuit of these big moments, things, or achievements just postpones life. We end up missing out on celebrating the small, ordinary, everyday things. We end up missing out on the present moment.
So, whatever future scenario you think will give you happiness, joy, or contentment, don't wait for it.
Don't fool yourself into believing you will be happy when you get there because happiness will only show up here, not there.
Happiness shows up when we're present enough to find appreciation in the simple pleasures and experiences that are right in front of us. It shows up when we're present enough to find joy and meaning in the pursuit, regardless of whether we reach the destination.
It got Golden Globe for a reason 🏆
