@@arcqui4461mate a HUGE part of the dune universe is that guns dont work b/c of shields. + nowhere do you see houses/bases like whats built here. dune is entirely about relying on the human mind instead of machine, a game like this just doesn't work with it.

This is a game , it needs to be functional in terms of gameplay.
Am sure there will still be spacewizards and stuff. And in the dune universe there are still guns.

I guess survival in the style that the fremen do, and MMO for the player interaction creating the political side and warfare.

The survival aspect is about water, sandstorms and other players, the mmo side is about decisions and warfare and finally the build aspect is represented by the possibility to build (and every week in the south) a small base/village, alone or with a group of friends/guild ^^

Trailers almost always have it at max graphics. But since it’s powered by unreal engine 5.2 I would not be surprised if it looked like that or even better. But in the end dose graphics really matter? Isn’t it the gameplay that really matters?

what combat?all i saw in the movie was fremen one shoting harkonnen, only combat was in the duels,arena,etc

the sandworm is based on the descriptions from the book, though the uh shai-hulussy of villeneuve’s dune apparently also features in this game as being present in the deep desert. most of the aesthetic design of this game seems inspired by villeneuve’s film, but there are definitely differences. for instance, carryalls in this game use ornithopter-like wings rather than the balloons seen in the film. I like the design, I think they’ve taken the best of the films while not being afraid to make some original creative decisions.

They wouldn't happen here... learn the lore if you're going to whine....
Most of the game takes place in the deserts... the Holtzman Shield (which is the reason swords/knives/etc are used) draws in sandworms and enrages them, making them more dangerous.... The reason that those Knife fights happen is because the movies shift in and out of being in and out of the desert... so when you're not in the desert you CAN have a shield as the worms won't be drawn in.
The reason that the Fremen use knives is different but the same.... sure they don't want to use shields and draw in the worms but guns also waste materials... so do most things that you will be doing in this game... You are NOT playing as a Fremen in the game and as such are not beholden to their standards and likely will act more like a house or other entity. Harkonnens do use guns, just not in places where the Holtzman Shield is... but there are several scenes where they send people into the desert to fight... and they do use guns (in the books).

@@baphomeat I already know this, which is why I said melee would be essential for this game if it’s taking place in a desert where vibrating tools like shields and guns would attract, obviously it would make sense for there to be places the worms aren’t gonna appear so other weapons could be used, I also never said anything about the fremen

@@Wokvir The only reason melee is primarily used is BECAUSE of the shields...
But you did... because the Fremen are the ONLY faction who use exclusively melee... everyone else can and does use guns.
The devs have said that Vehicle, Melee, and Guns will all be viable options across the game... just like they are in the other media... but each come with various risks.

There’s Dune Spice Wars if that interests you. It’s an RTS game if I remember correctly

spice wars is a 4x grand strategy game, think more like stellaris rather than starcraft. i think the word rts gets thrown around for it because of the old dune rts games. but it’s nothing like those.

It being a survival game makes sense because... the deserts of Arrakis are pretty much BUILT for the genre.... I like the narrative and other style games in the Franchise but I am all too happy that there is going to be a survival game in the lineup now.

I believe you start out with nothing besides a knife in the game, so you have to survive until you can find one
