저도 몇년전에 달팽이 키운적있었는데 새끼도 낳고 저정도 컸을때쯤 갑자기 떼죽음 당하더라구요.. 새끼들은 저렇게 거의 비어있는채로요 저런 조그만 응애벌레때문이었다니...새끼달팽이도 조그만데 쟤넨 더더작고 심지어 반투명하기까지하네요 나쁜놈들 ㅜㅜ 저러니 이유도 모르고 당했지...이제라도 돼라님 영상보고 이유를 알아갑니다..

톡토기는 분해자 역할을 합니다. 달팽이와 같이 키웠다면 오히려 달팽이가 먹고 남은 찌꺼기나 똥을 분해해줘서 이로운 공생관계를 유지했을 겁니다. 달팽이를 죽인 녀석은 6분쯤에 나왔던 실처럼 생긴 기생충입니다. 톡토기들은 시체와 거기에 발생하는 균만을 먹기 때문에 달팽이를 공격할 수 없습니다ㅜㅜ 톡토기는 아마 기생충한테 당해서 죽은 달팽이의 시체를 분해중이었을겁니다. 제발돼라님이 복수해야 할 녀석은 톡토기가 아니라 껍데기 안에 있던 실처럼 생긴 기생충이었음. 오히려 톡토기들이 죽은 달팽이 시체를 기생충이 숙주를 옮기기 전에 빠르게 분해해줘서 나머지 달팽이들이 그나마 살아남은 걸로 추정됩니다. 톡토기 미워하지 마세요ㅜㅜ 좀 징그러울 순 있어도 착한 녀석들입니다.

the jumping bugs actually aren't parasites however; they're harmless scavengers, and in fact people buy them on purpose for their snails to help keep them clean

I was just looking for please somebody out there know that these springtails aren't the cause of the babies dying, it was probably another issue, maybe a lack of calcium or something? The person didn't take revenge, just vented their rage on a beneficial organism.

Hi ya. The bug are actually called "Springtail" which is harmless to human and it eats and clean (Cleaning Crews) anything from waste to dead animals. Some of your baby snails probably have gone to heaven due to insufficient nutrients before the springtails came to eat it. From what I see, its not parasite. Hope this helps 👍🏻

The little worms likely killed the snails, not the jumping bug. Jumping bug is a springtail, who cleans up dead matter. I think the worms are nematodes.

You are correct, they are springtails but you can see them moving inside the snail exo-skeleton.
Maybe they are cleaning the inside after the snail was killed by nematodes.

It's a nature of life to kill each other and humans are feeling sad
I haven’t killed any bugs or insects since little. I used to kill bug ants due to curiosity before that, but I slowly felt bad for it and decided to stop doing it. After the video, I’m reminded of my decision to never kill any small livings again.

@@walterwhite2763 Just because it's a nature of life doesn't mean that a human won't feel upset. When a human gains an emotional attachment to something and it's taken away (or in this case killed) they feel upset, it's natural for himans to be upset over this.

Wait a sec, I have an opinion.
The jumping arthropods in the snail are very likely just springtails.
But then the worm parasites were the real things killing the snails.
Springtails eat dead/decaying matter, so they must have come in after the snail died and are eating it up
(Edit) springtails are found naturally in the soil, and therefore they can proliferate in it if the soil is given the correct conditions. The springtails were naturally there in the first place

As other viewers have mentioned, you have several kinds of bugs in your soil. The ones you can see clearly (springtails, mites) are mostly found in decaying and decomposing matter...your typical soil insects. You will also find them in a compost pile. It's the bugs you can't see (amoebas, worms) that actually do the infestation and killing. You can try using a sterile soil mix as bedding for your snails. Another alternative would be heating your soil in the oven to kill all living bugs.
Or just don't use soil, they're snails. could just leave them on a bed of leaves and they'd be happy I'm sure.

@@puteri1977 : Not sure about leaves, as I haven't raised snails. I think leaves will decompose pretty quickly, so you may want to get a better substrate, like coconut fiber, that you could find in your local pet store. If you can't find an appropriate substrate for your pet snail, look for sterile potting mix at your local garden center.
I'm a biologist. They're collembola species. Live on the dirt. You have to clean the dirt before put the snails in.

Springtails wouldn't be responsible for the death of the snails though. Not sure about the worms but springtails are harmless. They keep the soil clean and healthy. That's why in herping you should always get soil with springtails in it. With a few others of the terarrium clean up crew like woodlice they keep the terarriums free of mold and fungus. Doubt they would kill baby snails either, we had newborn tarantulas, super tiny ones with springtails in the soil all the time. They definitely weren't responsible for the snail's death
