- Finally, Kiwi laid the egg!
My mantis, Kiwi, which I have grown since the time of the nymph.
Kiwi had recently mate, but had a wound on his body.
Wounds on warts are very dangerous because of bacterial infection, so I was worried about it for a while.
But after a few days, Kiwi looks weak...
By the way, Kiwi started laying eggs!

When I was a child ~age 8 i was told what a mantis egg case looked like. When I found one, I cut the twig it was attached to and took it home and placed it in a jar. It kinda looked like honey and peanut butter dissolving down the stick, about 2" long x 1" wide. Like any other 8 year old, my attention span was short, I went back to school and forgot about the jar, which now had no lid on top. In spring time the following year, in my playroom which was not heated, I hear a scream from my Mother. Hundreds of tiny tiny mantis everywhere in one corner of the room. They were in the sun, her screams made all their little heads turn in her direction. She swatted at them in the corner and then spanked me and yelled at me to never do this again. I was so happy most of the babies got away! I am 55 years old now and always welcome a mantis into my home should they grace my doorstep with their presence.

I went for walk once and saw a preying mantis in the road and while I tried to move her off the road she kept trying to attack my fingers. True story. She was obviously afraid, but she didn't back down. They're beautiful.
Oh, some mantis can be friendly like when Pleasebee met Kiwi. To befriend one you must give them food(Dead insect, lettuce, etc) and they'll trust you! I guess that'll help you

When I was a kid, I used to spend hours in my parents' garden watching and studying insects of all sorts, feeding them and stuff...so thank you Pleasebee for your work, so informative/fascinating so well made/filmed, I'm loving it. I've always gazed at Mantises, they seem to come from another planet, so gorgeous and terrifying at the same time. Fortunately, human size mantises don't exist, otherwise they would have been my greatest nightmare lol. Keep it up, it's wicked! ;)

The eggs are layer inside of the egg case and it is long as about 3mm

yep same, overall this when I started watched this content about kiwi and wiki, mantises started to appear in my complex make me easy to catch them (but grasshoppers here are rare.........and never been searched as big like these so it's gonna be hard to keep it live like a week)

Growing up I had pet praying mantises. My grandma let me keep them on her screened in porch and I'd hunt for them most days. We successfully raised probably 5 or 6 generations lol. I miss them sometimes, but my wife would have a cow lol.
